Are you ready to explore snowy winter landscapes and learn a new skill this season? Cross-country skiing is a fantastic way to get deep into nature, stay active, and fully embrace winter. Whether you’re brand new to the sport or want to build on your existing skills, cross-country skiing offers an experience like no other. Plus, we’ve taught over 1000 women how to cross-country ski, so you’re in great hands. Here are 5 reasons why cross-country skiing should be your next winter adventure:

1. It’s Easy to Learn

Whether you’re brand new to skiing or have tried other winter sports before, cross-country skiing is accessible to everyone. Compared to alpine (downhill) skiing, it’s much easier to pick up. After just a few lessons, even complete beginners can confidently ski the same tracks as more experienced skiers. While you might move at a different pace, the sense of progress is incredibly rewarding. Cross-country skiing doesn’t require expert balance, making it a perfect choice for anyone looking to learn and enjoy a new winter sport from scratch.

2. Escape the Crowds

Unlike downhill skiing, cross-country skiing takes you away from the busy slopes and into untouched winter wilderness. It’s calmer, gets you into snow-covered landscapes and avoids the hustle of popular ski resorts.

3. No Specialist Clothing

You don’t need to invest in expensive or complicated gear to get started, a few decent winter layers will do the job. If you already hike, run or cycle through the colder months, chances are most of what you need is sitting in your wardrobe. And we’ll tell you exactly what to bring before you come, so you’re not buying things you’ll only use once.

4. Discover New Destinations

Cross-country skiing isn’t just a winter sport – it opens the door to a whole new world of adventure. Each year, we seek out new and exciting destinations for you to explore on skis throughout Europe. We’ve got some new routes in the works for this winter too, so watch this space.

5. Downtime Off the Skis

After a day in the snow exploring the wilderness around you, there’s no better way to relax and recharge than a sauna session, hearty dinner made with local ingredients and a comfortable bed.
