Activity Overview
This trip is for cross-country skiers ready to level up. You’ll need at least three full days of experience, whether from our beginner’s trip or learned elsewhere. Then we’ll push you further.
We’ll build on what you know and cover serious ground. Technique sessions will sharpen your skills, then take on longer tours that cover serious distance and more terrain. We’ll take you beyond groomed tracks and deep into the backcountry, where conditions are wild and your technique really counts.
Ready to ski faster, go further, and access remote wilderness most people never reach? This is it.
Activity Overview
Swap your skis for snowshoes and tackle the Swedish wilderness on foot. There’s less technique to master, so more time to actually look around and take in the views.
We’ll head deep into forests where the trees are heavy with snow and the trails are wherever we make them. You’re more likely to spot wildlife tracks than other people’s footprints.
Activity Overview
The hotel sits right by a frozen lake, and we’ve cut in a hole that’s perfect for a quick dip. The sauna’s also only a short walk away for when you need to defrost.
Get in or don’t, either way, you’ll be entertained from watching your fellow Gutsy Girls discover exactly how cold Swedish lake water gets in winter.
Activity Overview
After a long day skiing, there’s nothing better than unwinding in a relaxing yoga class. Our in-house instructor will guide you through a gentle flow, helping you stretch out those muscles and reset for the next active day.
Activity Overview
A dinner in a mountain top cabin, just for our group! We’ll take a snowcat (think tank meets ski lift) to get to the cabin for local food and views that stretch for miles.

The answers
You can fly direct from Gatwick to Trondheim with Norwegian on the way out. There’s no direct flight home, so the return routes via Oslo.
We include one shared transfer on both the arrival and departure days of your trip.
Not sure if your flight works? Just ask, we’re happy to help.
Yes, this is for improvers with at least 3 full days of cross-country skiing experience. You should confidently snow plough, move in and out of tracks, manage speed on downhills, and be able to ski longer distances.
You need good to high fitness levels for 6-7 hours active daily covering 10-25km. If you exercise at medium intensity (gym, swimming, running, spin classes) at least 3 times a week, you’ll manage fine. You already know what a workout cross-country skiing is, and how prepared you need to be
We provide all cross-country ski equipment (skis, boots, poles) plus expert tuition from experienced instructors. You’ll get technique sessions to fine-tune your skills, plus longer tours through terrain that’ll test you, both groomed tracks and backcountry adventures.
Yoga sessions each evening to help you recover, snowshoeing through Swedish wilderness, ice bathing in the frozen lake (optional but entertaining), and a snowcat adventure to a mountain cabin for dinner with views that stretch for miles. Plus sauna and swimming pool access daily.
Layering is key – you’ll get hot while moving, then cool down quickly when you stop. Avoid cotton and downhill ski clothing. Think wool or synthetic base layers, windproof breathable shell jacket, soft shell trousers, plus warm insulated jacket for stops. Full packing list provided after booking.
Transfers run on a fixed schedule and can’t wait. If you arrive late, you’ll need to arrange private transport – we can organise a taxi for NOK 2700 (approx £200) for 1-4 people. Travel insurance covering delays and missed connections is essential and required.
Temperatures range from -10°C to -20°C. Swedish cold is “dry” so feels less harsh than damp UK cold. The daylight hours can be short, but that’s part of the winter experience, as is having your eyelashes freeze.
You’ll stay at a cosy family-owned hotel with a restaurant, small pool, excellent sauna and access to ski straight outside. Rooms are simple and cosy. It’s comfortable but not luxury – think mountain lodge charm with all the facilities you’ll need after active days.
Absolutely. Mountain weather can be unpredictable, so our guides adjust daily plans to ensure the best (and safest) experience. We might swap activities around or change routes based on snow conditions, but you’ll still get your full adventure.
Everywhere accepts cards, so you don’t need to withdraw Swedish Kronor at all. You might want some spending money for drinks, souvenirs, or extra snacks, but all meals are included from dinner on arrival to lunch on departure.
