This is the standard we hold ourselves, our hosts and all our partners to, and what we ask of our guests in return. Starting with our side. Here’s a taster of what it includes.
Safety comes first in how every trip is run. We work with experienced local guides and partners who know their terrain, and we'd always rather change plans than take a risk that isn't worth it.
Everyone on a trip communicates respectfully, with honesty and without judgement. Every guest has a voice, and there's always your host to talk to if you'd rather flag something privately.
We respect different people and ways of life wherever we travel. We're curious and open-minded, never judgemental. We'll always try the local food and pick up a few words of the language along the way.
We support small, family-run businesses over big operators wherever we travel, so the money we spend stays in the communities that host us.
Our team members, partners and Gutsy Girls explore with the same mindset: we are guests in the wild. We follow “Leave no trace” principles on every trip and let wildlife stay wild.
We treat everyone with equal respect and care, irrespective of race, age, sexual orientation, gender assigned at birth, culture or background.
The Code in Practice
We’re not big on rules, but we’re big on having a good time. And the trips where everyone has the best time are the ones where people turned up prepared, honest about their level and ready to look out for each other. So we ask it of our hosts, guides and partners, and of you when you book.

Be honest about your skill level and book the trip that matches it, not the one above. Being a beginner is fine, there's a trip for that. Not sure? Just ask.
We're not a boot camp, but our trips need a genuine level of fitness. Check what each trip asks of you and put the work in beforehand. Your future self will thank you on day three.
We know life is busy, but try not to leave your prep to the last minute. Turn up with the right kit and the pre-arrival info read, and ask us early if you're unsure about anything.
We expect you to listen to advice and safety information. We’ll always look after you, but we don't tolerate any behaviour that could be dangerous for you or anyone else in the group.
We don't tolerate bullying, racism, ageism, sexism or any sort of disrespectful language, towards our hosts, our guides or fellow Gutsy Girls.
There’s nothing like a sweaty adventure to bond a group of women, so it kind of goes without saying to be friendly to the whole group, even if you’ve come with a friend.
No matter which activity you're doing, we expect you to help each other out physically and with proper positive encouragement.
Expect to be pushed, and expect the odd surprise. Weather turns, routes change, and the plan you read might not be the plan you get. Bring a sense of humour and go with it.
We’re here to teach you a new sport or activity and have a good time doing it. It’s not a competition; we always leave our egos at home.

We’ve got you covered
Our trips are for women, and that includes trans women. Non-binary people are welcome too.
There’s a box to tick at checkout, so you agree to it as part of booking. It’s not a long list of rules for the sake of it. It’s the stuff that keeps a small group of women having a genuinely good time together. Have a read before you book so you know what you’re saying yes to.
Most people never give this a second thought, because the kind of women who book these trips are exactly the kind who look out for each other. But if someone’s behaviour is unsafe or repeatedly spoils the trip for others, we’ll step in, and in serious cases that can mean asking them to leave.
We pick guides and partners on how well they know the area, how good they are with a group, and whether they work the way we do. They all sign up to our code of conduct before we send anyone their way. Our hosts are women, real ones who’ve done the trips themselves. Local specialist guides are chosen for their expertise first, so for some activities that may mean working with the best person for the job regardless of gender.
Your host is there for the whole group, on the trail and off it. If anything’s ever on your mind, big or small, you can talk to them quietly and in confidence. Most of the time it’s the little stuff, and that’s exactly what they’re there for.
We work with highly vetted, local instructors who will teach and guide you in the activities and sports. They know the area like the back of their hands and are essential to ensuring every guest gets the most out of each activity. Gutsy Girls hosts are the on-the-ground members of the team. They’re responsible for ensuring all logistics go to plan, plus they’ll be your hype girl and offer any support and advice you need during the trip.
There’s no upper age limit, what matters is that a trip matches your fitness and skill level rather than the number on your passport. Most of our guests are in their 30s and 40s, though plenty fall outside that, and groups tend to have more in common than not.
Of course. Plenty of women come with a friend and plenty come solo. Most trips are a mix of both. If you book together we’ll do our best to room you together, but we’d also nudge you to get stuck in with the whole group, that’s where the best bits happen.
