Right, let’s sort this out. You’ve landed at Oslo Gardermoen and need to get to Ringebu station for your Gutsy Girls adventure. The good news is that it’s super simple: A direct train will get you there in about 2 hours 30 mins, so no messing about with multiple connections or complicated bus changes. Just scan your ticket, jump on the train and enjoy the journey.

Getting to the Station

Oslo Gardermoen Airport’s railway station shares a building with the airport – you can’t miss it. Just follow the signs to the train platform after collecting your bags and heading through the doors out of the airport section.

The staff speak excellent English and everything’s well signposted, just check the board, scan your ticket at the gate and head down the escalator to your platform.

The Direct Train Route

The train you want runs on the F6 Dovrebanen line between Oslo and Trondheim, operated by SJ Nord. This isn’t some obscure local service – it’s a proper intercity train.

Booking Your Ticket

Use the Vy.no website (there’s an English version) or SJ.no to buy your ticket. Make sure to do this in advance as seats sell out and there’s no standing allowed – you can’t just rock up on the day and hope to get your train.

Tickets also go on sale between 90-120 days in advance of your travel date, so don’t panic if you’re being super organised, but your train isn’t an option yet. Try again once the 120 days has ticked over.

We also recommend downloading the Vy.no app so you have super easy access to your tickets. It also shows live departures and platforms – handy if there are any delays.

What to Expect on the Journey

It’s a scenic journey that takes about two and a half hours through the Norwegian countryside. SJ Nord trains are comfortable with reserved seating, accessible facilities, wifi and good space for luggage storage. There’s also usually a restaurant cart for hot drinks and snacks.

Getting from Ringebu to the Hotel

Once you’re at Ringebu station, our set-time transfer service will pick you up and take you to the hotel. It’s about a 20-minute journey which gives you time to adjust to the new amazing surroundings and meet your other Gutsy Girls too. Your host will let you know where exactly to meet once you get off the train.
