For introverts, the idea of group travel might seem a bit daunting. There’s the prospect of constant social interaction, limited personal space, the pressure to “be on” and concerns that your social battery may run flat. However, imagine a group travel experience that’s not only manageable but enriching, even for those who enjoy their alone time.

Gutsy Girl adventures offer just that. Many of our trips are designed to balance group stuff with opportunities for down time. Obviously if you book a wilderness hut-to-hut expedition you will be in close quarters with your group for the entire trip, however if you pick the right adventure there’s plenty of room to connect with like-minded adventurers at your own pace.

Why Adventure Travel is Perfect for Introverts

Group travel offers a unique opportunity to share experiences and create memories with like-minded adventurers. Whether it’s paddleboarding in Croatia or hiking in Norway, our adventures are about more than just the activities; they’re about building a community and getting out to explore.

No Small Talk Required: Shared activities instantly give you something to talk about, meaning conversation happens naturally and you don’t have to sweat the small talk.

Quiet Time on Activities: Hang back at the end of the hike, paddle off to one side, or just say you fancy a quiet stretch. Nobody will bat an eyelid.

Opportunities for Downtime: Many of our itineraries leave you real gaps to recharge. Read your book, have a nap, or wander off on your own (although maybe let your host know if you’re heading out by yourself).

"I'm a super introvert and found plenty of time to recharge my batteries!"

The Gutsy Girls Difference: Our Hosts

Our experienced Gutsy Girls hosts are more than just guides; they’re experts at creating a great environment for all our guests. They also understand introvert needs and group dynamics:

They Read the Room. Some guests want to socialise every minute, others need quiet. Our hosts make space for both, and nobody’s left feeling awkward.

They Protect Your Downtime. Need an hour to yourself? Just say the word. Our hosts are great at building it into the day without making it a thing. They can also point out where the opportunities for downtime are in the day’s itinerary.

They Set the Tone Early. From day one it’s clear that doing things at your own pace is completely normal. No pressure, no performance.

"I was worried as my social battery drains quickly, but there was lots of opportunities to be by myself, and no pressure to be social all the time. There were a few of us who were happy to comfortably sit in silence and I appreciated this 🤗"

"Everyone was so kind and I always felt like I could join in on group conversations and activities in the evening or just sit quietly and read my book without people wondering about me! If you're thinking about signing up as an introvert, just do it!"

Our Top Tips for Introverts

Ask us which trip fits. Some trips are full-on with barely a gap, others have far more breathing room. Drop the Bookings Team a message and they’ll steer you towards one that matches you.

Book a private room. So many past guests swear by this for that end-of-day reset. We keep the single supplement as low as we can, but the rooms go fast, so book early.

Tell your host what you need. They can’t read minds. Let them know when you want to step back and they’ll sort it.

Don’t rule out the bigger groups. Our trips run from 5 to 13 guests. A small group sounds like the obvious pick, but bigger trips mean more chance of finding your people, including the ones who also want to be reading quietly at 4pm. Either way, you won’t be the only one.

Bookings Team

We are a small team of women who plan the trips, host them, answer your emails and walk, ski and paddle the routes ourselves. When a post has no single name on it, it usually means several of us had something to add.
