Activity Overview

Snowshoeing

Snap on snowshoes and access terrain you can’t reach in summer. Your daytime trek takes you to stop-and-stare viewpoints while your guide fills you in on local stories. Then there’s the evening snowshoe to Svolvær. With only headtorches lighting your way, the landscape looks completely different in the dark.

  • All snowshoe equipment
  • Expert local guides

Activity Overview

Kayaking

Pull on your life jacket and explore Lofoten’s coastline from the water. Paddle icy Arctic waters with mountains as your backdrop, landing on a remote beach for a picnic lunch. Keep watch for marine wildlife too.

  • Kayaks and all safety equipment
  • Dry suits
  • Experienced kayak guides

Activity Overview

Horse Riding

Saddle up for a ride through Lofoten’s Viking history. The route takes you past archaeological sites where Vikings housed their longships, down to beaches, and along the coast through fishing ports.

  • Horse riding helmets
  • Guides who know the territory

Activity Overview

Cross Country Skiing

Spend a full day learning how to cross-country ski. You’ll get the gliding basics down, probably fall over a bit (that’s part of it), and by the afternoon you’ll wonder why you haven’t been doing this for years. No experience needed, your guide teaches you everything step by step.

  • Cross-country skis and boots
  • Expert ski instructors

Activity Overview

Sea Eagle Safari

Head out on the water in a RIB boat for a wildlife safari. Sea eagles nest along Lofoten’s coastlines and with 2.5m wingspans, they’re hard to miss. Lofoten’s rich marine ecosystem also supports seals, orcas, and diverse seabirds. No guarantees on what you’ll spot (nature doesn’t perform on schedule), but your guide will know where to look.

  • All safety equipment
  • Knowledgeable wildlife guides

Activity Overview

Spa Sessions

Access Lofoten’s best spa facilities and rest tired muscles in the sauna and hot tub. For those wanting the full Arctic experience, there’s also the optional plunge into the Arctic Ocean.

Activity Overview

Yoga

Stretch and strengthen between adventures with four yoga sessions throughout the week. Never set foot on a mat? It’s a common misconception that you need to be flexible to do yoga, but just turn up and your instructor will guide you through the rest.

Fitness Level

Trying lots of different activities in Arctic winter conditions across the same week means your body is constantly adapting, and the cold adds its own demands on top of each one. It’s not about massive distances or intense effort, it’s about showing up each day ready to try something new in freezing temperatures, which takes more out of you than the same activities would elsewhere. If you’re doing running, cycling or anything that gets your heart rate up regularly, you’ll manage well, and with yoga and spa sessions built into the week, there’s genuine recovery time too.

You'll Need to Be

  • Doing regular cardio before you arrive - consecutive active days in the cold compound quickly if you're not used to it
  • Mentally ready for full days outdoors in Arctic winter conditions
  • Comfortable with the cold - if freezing temperatures make you miserable, this isn't the trip for you.

The answers

What You're Wondering

Do I need experience with any of the activities?

No previous experience is needed for any activity, our expert guides teach you everything from scratch. The focus is on having fun and exploring Lofoten, not perfecting your technique.

How fit do I need to be?

This trip is rated moderate. You need baseline fitness to handle 5-6 hours of activity daily for four consecutive days. If you exercise regularly (running, hiking, cycling) and can handle a full day hike, you’ll manage fine. It’s not extreme, but you can’t be completely sedentary either or the consecutive active days will catch up with you if you’re unprepared.

What activities are included?

You’ll snowshoe through mountains, kayak icy fjords, cross-country ski in forests, and horse ride ancient Viking trails. There are also evening spa visits with a sauna, hot tub, and optional Arctic Ocean plunge. Four yoga sessions are also included for recovery. For every activity you’ll have an expert local guide and all necessary equipment provided.

Is this trip right for me?

If you’re active and want consecutive days trying multiple winter activities, this trip works. You’ll be outdoors in freezing temperatures most days, so mental readiness for cold weather matters as much as physical fitness.

How do I get to Lofoten?

Fly into Evenes Airport (EVE) in northern Norway. We provide one timed group transfer from the airport to our hotel (approximately 2.5 hours). The journey through tunnels and over bridges connecting the islands is part of the adventure.

What time is the transfer?

A group transfer is included on both the arrival and departure days. This is a shared transfer, running at fixed times to and from Evenes Airport.

There is one transfer each way, and your flight must match the timings. If it doesn’t, you’ll need to make your own arrangements. Please note that there are different transfer times depending on the adventure date.

1-6 Feb 2026

  • Arrival pickup: 17:45 at Evenes Airport
  • Departure drop-off: 14:50 at Evenes Airport

1-6 Apr 2026

  • Arrival pickup: 17:45 at Evenes Airport
  • Departure drop-off: 15:15 at Evenes Airport

What if my flight doesn't match the transfer times?

We really recommend booking any flights that mean you’ll be able to take our set-time transfer. If that’s impossible, you’ll need to arrange your own transport – we don’t provide individual transfers. Private transfers cost around 7000kr (approximately £500) and can be booked through our Bookings Team. There are also public transport options.

What's the weather like in Arctic winter?

Freezing temperatures, snow cover, and short daylight hours. Weather changes fast and clear mornings can turn stormy by afternoon. Come prepared for cold, and for those crisp, clear days when the landscape shows you why you made the journey.

Is the itinerary flexible?

Our itineraries aren’t set in stone. Our guides are experts at making the most of the weather each day, so they may adjust things to ensure we get the best out of the conditions.

Do I need extra cash?

Credit and debit cards work almost everywhere, however it’s always useful to carry a small amount of local currency in your wallet. Most elements of the trip are included, you just have to pay for extra drinks, other occasional personal expenses and any tips you may want to give to your guide and host.
