Activity Overview
Never strapped into a board before? Good, then you’re exactly who this week is for. You’ll start on the gentle beginner slopes with a qualified instructor, learning how the gear works, how to find your edges and, above all, how to stop. From there it’s turning, taking the lift, and linking it all together until you can get up and down on your own.
Snowboarding humbles everyone on day one. Expect to fall. Expect to get back up and expect to surprise yourself by the end of the week.
Activity Overview
Swapping the board for a paddle mid-week sounds a bit strange, but it gives your legs a rest and shows you the mountains from a completely different angle. You’ll head to Sognefjord, Norway’s longest and deepest fjord, and paddle beneath walls of rock with a local guide, then warm up in a mobile sauna on the shore. Anyone feeling brave can also take a dip in the winter-cold water.
Never kayaked? Your guide covers everything before you leave the shore.
Activity Overview
Snowboarding uses muscles you didn’t know you had, and you’ll feel it after the first day. Two yoga sessions during the week stretch out tired legs and backs and keep you moving freely for the next day on the board. It’s practical, recovery-focused yoga with mountain views, run by a local instructor.
Activity Overview
After hours out in the cold, the sauna is almost a necessity. This one hangs out over the Begna River, so you can thaw tired muscles with the water running below you. It’s where the day’s falls get forgotten and you get ready to do it all again tomorrow.
Experience remote Norway
Your adventure starts here
Take the bus to Tyinkrysset and catch our transfer up to the hotel.
Dinner on arrival, built around local ingredients from the surrounding mountains and fjords. Meet the group and get the lowdown on the week ahead.
Breakfast, then over to the rental to get fitted for your gear and check everything sits right.
Your instructor runs through the essentials — strapping in, finding your edges, how to stop — then you're out on the gentlest beginner slopes to try it for yourself.
Loosen off tired joints in the riverside sauna, then a three-course dinner.
Boots back on after breakfast to go deeper into the basics: stopping, turning, and getting on and off the lift so you can get up the mountains easily.
More time on the beginner slopes, drilling it in until it starts to click.
A yoga session to stretch out tired legs back at the hotel, then a three-course dinner.
Breakfast and pack a lunch, then head out with your instructor to repeat and sharpen everything from the last few days, with individual feedback as you go.
The guide steps back and you practise at your own pace.
Back to the sauna to warm through, then dinner.
A day off the board. After breakfast drive out to Sognefjord where a local guide takes you kayaking on the fjord beneath the high mountain.
Warm up with a mobile sauna session by the water’s edge. Anyone game can also take a dip in the winter-cold water.
Drive back to the hotel for dinner.
Breakfast and a yoga session to loosen off, then pack a lunch and head out to explore more of the resort with your instructor — new lifts, new slopes.
Stop for your packed lunch in a panoramic cabin 1,200m up at the top of the slope, looking out over the runs and across to the peaks of Jotunheimen National Park. Then more time riding.
Yoga to restore any achey legs, then a three-course dinner at the hotel.
One last morning with your instructor, exploring new areas and fine-tuning your technique. They'll point you to the best runs to try later.
A hot lunch at a café, then the afternoon's yours — stay on the board solo, or swap it out for something else, like snowshoeing one of the marked trails from the hotel.
A farewell dinner with your group.
After breakfast, pack up and head back to the bus stop at Tyinkrysset to start your journey home. You're leaving with real snowboarding skills and the kind of confidence that only comes from mastering something new.

Moderate Learning to snowboard is hard physical work. You’re up and down off the snow constantly, using your core and legs to stay balanced and in control for several hours a day across consecutive days. Expect aches, especially early in the week. If you’re doing cardio three or more times a week, running, cycling, the gym, with some strength work on top, and back-to-back active days don’t faze you, you’re ready. YOU’LL NEED TO BE

Beginner No snowboarding experience is needed, this is a beginners trip. You’ll start from scratch with a qualified instructor: strapping in, heel and toe edges, turning, using the lift, and linking turns down beginner slopes by the end of the week. What you do need is a willingness to fall over and keep going. Snowboarding’s first days are humbling for everyone; the quicker you make peace with that, the faster you’ll progress. If you’ve ridden a little before and want to go back to basics, you’re welcome too, but this is a beginners trip and paced as such. Not sure what level you are? We’ve got you covered
No. This trip is for complete beginners. You’ll learn from scratch with an experienced instructor in a small group.
You need both good cardiovascular fitness and strong legs. Snowboarding is physically demanding and you’ll be active for several hours a day across consecutive days, with a lot of getting up off the snow early on.
The first couple of days are definitely tougher, but our instructors know exactly how to get beginners through those early days, and the quiet slopes here give you space to do it without an audience.
You will fall — everyone does when they’re learning, and it’s part of the process. The beginner slopes are gentle, and your instructor teaches you how to fall safely and get back up. If you can’t handle falling though, this probably isn’t the activity for you.
Your board, boots, bindings and helmet are all included. We fit everything on arrival and make sure it’s working correctly.
All equipment (kayak, paddle, dry suit, buoyancy aid), a local guide, and a session in the mobile sauna followed by an entirely optional cold dip. No kayaking experience needed — your guide teaches you everything.
Your instructor will adjust the pace to suit everyone. If you’re finding something tricky, tell them and they’ll tweak the exercises. Afternoons are set aside for practising at your own pace.
Fly into Oslo or Bergen and take the direct bus to Tyinkrysset, where we collect you. From Oslo there’s also an easy train-and-bus route via the city. Full details are in the trip guide.
We collect you from Tyinkrysset bus stop on arrival day and drop you back on the final day.
If you arrive or leave outside these times, a private transfer between Tyinkrysset bus stop and hotel can be arranged for about NOK 80 (£6 / €7) per person.
Mountain weather can change quickly and plans may need to be adjusted. If conditions aren’t safe for riding, your instructor will find different slopes or move the itinerary around, always putting safety first while making sure you still get your full week of progress.
