Activity Overview
This is backcountry skiing – also known as ski touring – where you earn every turn. No lifts, no crowds, just you and the mountains. Discover the freedom of climbing a mountain under your own steam and dropping into untracked lines to come back down again.
This trip is designed for strong on-piste skiers ready to push into new terrain. If you can make confident parallel turns on red runs, you’re ready for this. We’ll leave the resort behind to explore wild, untouched valleys.
Activity Overview
Get to grips with climbing skins and touring bindings. Learn to read terrain, choose safe lines, and move efficiently uphill through snow-covered forests. We’ll explore wild valleys and untouched bowls, building confidence on varied off-piste conditions with expert coaching.
Small groups mean dedicated teaching. Route planning, terrain assessment, backcountry decision-making – you’ll learn it all. By week’s end, you’ll feel confident joining more ski touring adventures.
Activity Overview
This trip has 4:1 skier-to-instructor ratio for excellent coaching throughout. Learn avalanche awareness and essential safety protocols such as how to use a transceiver and probe. This isn’t a full avalanche course, but you’ll get solid mountain safety knowledge. Our qualified guides keep things challenging but safe.
Activity Overview
After a day in the backcountry, there’s time to play on the pistes too with a session of night skiing under floodlights.
Activity Overview
Climb into a snowmobile-drawn sledge for an evening winter adventure through snow-covered landscapes to a mountaintop spot, complete with a crackling fire and hot drinks. It’s the perfect way to wind down after an active day – no effort required.
The Destination
Your Adventure Starts Here
Land at Trondheim (Værnes) Airport and jump on the group transfer to our base for the week - roughly two hours through the mountains.
Check in and settle into your room, then enjoy a two-course welcome dinner and a briefing from the team on how the week runs.
Breakfast, then a short minibus up to the slope to get fitted for your touring kit. You'll run through the week's plan, get your avalanche gear and test everything before you use it for real.
Lunch, then try your first touring session. Learn to move uphill and get the hang of pulling your climbing skins on and off.
Fuel up with dinner and unwind with a sauna.
Head to the slopes for a lesson on off-piste skiing with your instructor. First try out the techniques you learned yesterday with an uphill trip to the start of the slopes, then off-piste ski back down.
After lunch your instructor will help you work on your touring technique. They'll also show you how to read a route and pick your line.
Have a debrief before dinner. Here you can share what clicked, what felt awkward, and how to prepare for tomorrow's longer tour.
Today starts with a session on avalanche theory in the hotel's conference room. Once the theory's covered, head out for a ski to put what you've just learned into practice.
Lunch, then more avalanche protocol practice outdoors. A skill you'll hopefully never need, but incredibly useful to know.
Ski back to the hotel, then wind down in the sauna before a two-course dinner.
Time to step up your route planning by learning to read terrain and make smart navigation decisions. You'll also refine those uphill techniques and practice kick turns on steeper slopes.
Lunch on the slopes, then ski back down, adapting your technique to the varying conditions. Afterwards have a debrief and prep for tomorrow.
Dinner, then ride to the top of the mountain on a sledge pulled by a snowmobile for warm drinks and a cosy evening.
Today we start at the summit. Help make decisions alongside your guide as to the route and apply everything you've learned. This is where the skills really come together.
Lunch on the slopes, then tackle a longer, more challenging descent, using all your skiing and route-finding skills.
Head back out to the slopes for a night ski under floodlights, then get pizza at a mountain-side restaurant.
Head back to the summit start point for the most demanding day yet. You'll be taking the lead today on what route to follow.
Pull together everything you've learned throughout the week for one long, rewarding descent.
Enjoy a sauna session and a celebratory farewell dinner.
Breakfast, then there's the option to have one last ski before handing back your equipment and checking out. Use the sauna and showers to freshen up afterwards.
Early lunch, then jump in the transfer back to the airport for your journey home.

Challenging Ski touring feels like hiking uphill on skis before earning your descent. You’ll be out on snow for six to seven hours across consecutive days, so stamina and endurance matter far more than technical ability here. Mountain weather adds its own demands: cold temperatures and changing conditions mean your body is working harder than exerting the same effort elsewhere. The uphill sections using climbing skins will also test your legs in ways resort skiing never does. If you’re training hard three or more times a week, running, cycling or strength work, and back-to-back demanding days don’t faze you, you’re ready for this. You'll Need to Be

The answers
No ski touring experience is required for this trip, but you need to be a confident intermediate skier. We’ll teach you how to use touring gear, climbing skins and avalanche safety.
You need parallel turns on red runs, speed control on varied terrain, and to be comfortable in different snow conditions. If you’re still snow-ploughing or nervous on steeper slopes, this isn’t for you.
Good fitness is essential. You’ll be out for 6-7 hours daily and ski touring requires steady uphill movement to reach the more remote peaks. Stamina and endurance are key.
All ski touring kit: touring skis, boots, poles, climbing skins, avalanche safety gear (transceiver, shovel, probe).
