Trek Beach to Beach
Leave the beach crowds behind and explore Sardinia’s wild and unspoiled East Coast. Hike ancient shepherd’s trails, tackling sections of the legendary Selvaggio Blu, and reach beaches only accessible after a morning’s hike. Expert local guides lead you through dense Mediterranean scrub, limestone cliffs, and forest tracks, while ground support moves your luggage by van and boat.
This isn’t a gentle introduction to hiking. It’s five consecutive days hiking up to 14km on steep and uneven terrain and spending two nights completely off-grid. But the payoffs are crystal-clear coves after a morning’s hike, clifftop trails with views over an untouched coastline, and Sardinia the way most people never experience it.

Activity Overview
Spend five days trekking Sardinia’s rugged East Coast on ancient shepherd’s trails that don’t appear in guidebooks. You’ll wind through dense Mediterranean forest, follow rivers down to hidden coves, and tackle sections of the Selvaggio Blu, one of Italy’s most challenging multi-day routes.
This is serious hiking on steep, uneven and technical terrain with significant ascents and descents.
Ground support moves your main kit by van and boat, so you only carry a daypack. That’s the good news. The 685m elevation day is the other kind.
Activity Overview
Swim crystal-clear bays only accessible after a morning’s hike. The coastal paths offer plenty of chances to cool off and ease tired muscles in the Mediterranean, with clear waters ideal for snorkelling and spotting marine life.
Activity Overview
Spend three nights camping in the Sardinian countryside, two of them completely off-grid. There’s no electricity, no showers and very limited toilet facilities. What you get instead: incredible locations, meals with serious scenery, and a real taste of Sardinia’s countryside.
Activity Overview
One night is spent camping at a working shepherd’s farm. Basic facilities, first-class hospitality. Pitch your tent, enjoy dinner made from fresh local produce, and make the most of access to a shower.
The Destination
Your adventure starts here
We'll pick you up from Olbia airport and drive 2.5 hours to our hiker's refuge on the Golgo Plateau. Get settled into your shared room at this simple, clean base.
Depending on arrival time, there's a chance for a short walk to see the dramatic rock faces. Then group dinner, get to know each other and learn more about the week with a briefing from our local guides.
Breakfast at the refuge, then we hit the trail. Today's a 14km circular route on ancient shepherd's paths and your first look at the Gulf of Orosei's 30km coastline.
14km
Trek to a secluded white sand beach with bright blue water, overlooked by a 100m limestone pinnacle. Lunch and a swim here before heading back to the refuge (once you’ve dried off - it won’t take long!)
Back to the refuge, then dinner at a local restaurant. After that hike you'll sleep well tonight.
Pack your daypack and hand over your luggage. Today's an 8km beach-to-beach hike along the Selvaggio Blu, one of Italy's toughest multi-day routes. We've chosen a less technical section though, so no rope skills are required.
8km
Trek through dense Mediterranean vegetation to a small cove with pink and white sand, surrounded by 500m cliffs. The bay is only accessible on foot, so you'll likely have the place to yourselves. Once you’re done enjoying the beach, a boat pickup will take you to your campsite for the night.
Set up tents and watch any day-trippers leave. Group dinner at camp, then the beach is yours.
Breakfast at camp, take down the tents, then it’s a 9.5km hike to the next beach. The coastal path winds through dense forest, before opening up to jaw-dropping rock formations.
9.5km
Follow the river down to a long sandy beach backed by caves carved into limestone cliffs.
Wild camp on the beach, with dinner delivered by a local restaurant. There are no showers, and the nearest toilet's a 10-minute walk away - this is off-grid camping.
Breakfast on the beach and time to swim, relax and take in the views.
6.5km
Hike a shorter 6.5km route on an ancient shepherd's trail - the kind that doesn't appear in guidebooks. Our local guides know these paths, passed down through generations of shepherds who've worked this land.
Camp at a shepherd's farm (cold showers available). Dinner with the shepherd's family for some authentic Sardinian hospitality.
Breakfast at the farm, then a 9.5km hike through forests to the final bay.
9.5km
Rest time at the beach before hiking to a small coastal town and your final destination. A gelato stop is essential.
Take a short transfer to a charming hotel in a small beach town with incredible views of the Mediterranean for your celebratory dinner.
Breakfast at the hotel. Take in the beach views and make the most of your free time before getting the transfer back to Olbia airport.

The camp-to-camp section means there’s no recovery day built in, so if your legs aren’t used to back-to-back effort, you’ll feel it. The answers
Yes, however you don’t need multi-day hiking experience. This trip is created for intermediate and advanced hikers who want to challenge themselves with a point-to-point hike, without the stress of carrying all your own kit. You do need good fitness though and be comfortable hiking 5-6 hours daily on varying terrain with climbs and descents.
This trip is rated challenging. You’ll be active 5-6 hours daily covering up to 15km with elevation gain and rocky, uneven terrain. You need decent baseline fitness and should be comfortable with consecutive active days. If regular hikes or cardio sessions are part of your routine, you’re in good shape for this.
Breakfast, pack your daypack, start hiking mid-morning. Hike with breaks for water and photos, stop somewhere scenic for lunch, then continue hiking to reach that night’s accommodation, with time to explore and swim.
Hiking boots with good grip and ankle support are mandatory for safety. Lightweight, fast-drying hiking clothing (leggings or hiking trousers, wicking t-shirts). Long sleeves to protect from sun and bushes. Layers for temperature changes. Full packing list provided after booking.
Daily coastal hikes on ancient shepherd trails, three nights camping (including one in a sea cave), accommodation at a hikers’ refuge and hotel with beach views, all meals from dinner Day 1 to lunch Day 7, luggage transfers, camping equipment (tent, sleeping mat), hiking poles, local guides, and transfers on arrival and departure to Olbia airport.
Fly in and out of Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport (OLB) in northeast Sardinia. We’ll then pick you and the rest of the group up from the airport and make the 2hr 30 min drive to the starting point. On departure day we’ll also drop you back at Olbia airport in time for a mid-morning flight.
A group transfer is included on both the arrival and departure days. This is a shared transfer, running at fixed times to and from Olbia Airport.
There is one transfer each way, and your flight must match the timings. If it doesn’t, you’ll need to make your own arrangements.
Transfer Times:
Arrival day pick up: 17:35 at Olbia Airport
Departure day drop off: 8:30 at Olbia Airport
Group transfers run at fixed times. If your flight times don’t align, you’ll need to either wait for the transfer, or arrange your own transport to the meeting point. Contact the Booking Team to discuss options. Travel insurance covering delays and missed connections is mandatory.
Sardinia has a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers. Expect 25-32°C during hiking season (May-October). There will be strong sun and minimal rain, but coastal winds can make it feel cooler (don’t be fooled, make sure to slap on the sunblock). September and October offer slightly milder temperatures.
Absolutely. While we have a solid plan, our local guides know when to adjust activities based on the weather and conditions to ensure safety is paramount.
You’ll want extra money for drinks, extra gelato, snacks and souvenirs. Most places accept cards, but bring some cash for smaller vendors.
