May to September

Welcome to our four night SUP, Yoga and Hiking adventure, an extra-long weekend escape for active women with limited annual leave, looking for a shorter break or wanting to find their next summer sport!

We’ll be exploring the western coast of Sardinia, with 56 miles of coastline and varied terrain. From sandy beaches to secluded bays, cliffs, mountains and rivers, it’s the perfect location to explore by water and land.

We’ll paddle along coastlines on crystal clear waters, dipping into hidden beaches, or hike ancient trails to reach the wildest parts of Sardinia, discovering new locations every day. Oh, and there’s the Via Ferrata - new heights, new views, new challenges.

Our yoga instructor will lead us in three sessions, with dynamic Vinyasa based classes suited for yogis of all levels.

We’ll also immerse ourselves in local culture through food. Eat at fantastic local restaurants, learn to make your own ravioli with real nonnas in our pasta-making workshop, and get to grips with the finer points of Italian wine with a guided wine tasting.

Location

We’ll be staying in Bosa, one of Italy’s most picturesque towns. This pretty medieval settlement is set along the river banks of River Temo, with pastel coloured houses stacked along the hillside, watched over by Malaspina Castle. During the week we’ll have plenty of opportunities to explore the cobblestone streets and lively piazzas teeming with people enjoying the Mediterranean sunshine.

Our base will be a lovely three star hotel, with light and airy rooms. Choose from a private double room or opt to share a twin room with another Gutsy Girl.

Activities

Stand Up Paddleboarding

This adventure is all about exploring beautiful wilderness and coastal locations by stand up paddleboard and on foot. Perfect for both beginner and experienced paddlers who want to improve their skills and explore stunning locations.

We’ll be paddling on the sea and a tranquil river, exploring beautiful coastlines, weaving our way through sea caves, swimming in secluded bays, discovering hidden beaches and heading into the countryside on our river tour.

Beginner Friendly

This paddleboarding holiday is great for beginner and novice paddlers!

If you’ve never been on a board before, our SUP instructor will get you up and moving in no time as we explore incredible locations. We’ll paddle between 5km and 9km per day with breaks to take in the views and try new paddle skills.

More experienced paddlers are very welcome. Please note, the pace, skills, and distances will be tailored for beginners.

Hiking

Our hikes will take you away from the crowds and into the wilderness. We'll trek to incredible view points, look out over coastlines and keep our eyes open for rare griffon vultures circling in the sky above.

Via Ferrata

Via Ferrata is a protected climbing route, with a variety of steel cable rails, metal steps, ladders, suspension bridges and zip wires. Described as halfway between scrambling and rock climbing, Via Ferrata allows non-experienced climbers the opportunity to scale to new heights. Literally.

It’s an adrenaline pumping activity and a highlight of the trip. You do not need previous climbing experience, just good fitness and a drive for adventure!

In the height of summer we may need to replace the Via Ferrata with aquatrekking if it is too hot to be out on the exposed climbing route all day! Aquatrekking is a bit like canyoning, where we explore a mountain river by walking, jumping, swimming and sliding in the river stream. It’s a great hot weather activity!

Yoga

Our fantastic yoga instructor will guide us in three practices, great for all level yogis.

Yoga is fantastic not only for improving flexibility, strength and balance (great for paddleboarding) it’s also a great way to unwind after a day on the water.

Our yoga sessions will be in our studio overlooking the river.

Pasta Workshop

You’ll learn how to make your own ravioli from real nonnas; local grandmothers who’ll show you how to make pasta from scratch!

Fitness and Experience Level

  • Our adventures are active holidays, you’ll be moving your body for 4-5 hours each day to explore beautiful places. Our trips are not bootcamps, but to get the most out of the experience you’ll need a good level of fitness.

This trip is rated as moderate.

  • Activity Duration: 4-5 hours of activities plus one hour of yoga most days.

SUP Distances: Journey between 5km and 9km on both the sea and rivers. Ideal for beginners and novice paddlers, with no prior experience required.

Hiking: Our hikes will vary from 3.5km to 10km, with routes chosen depending on the weather and heat. Trails are usually moderate.

Hiking Terrain: Navigate through uneven, rocky paths with loose stones underfoot.

Via Ferrata: Experience the thrill of climbing using ladders, steel handles, and foot holds without needing climbing skills or upper body strength. A harness ensures your safety.

Head for Heights: Our Via Ferrata adventure involves ascending and descending ladders. It’s a safe yet adrenaline fueled challenge for those willing to test their limits.

Consecutive Activity: Prepare for four days of back-to-back activities, which can be demanding if fitness levels aren’t right.

  • This trip is for active women with limited holiday allowance, who want to try a new summer sport in a stunning location. If paddling in crystal clear waters, hiking along rugged trails and testing your metal on a Via Ferrata sounds like the perfect way to spend a few days, then this is the trip for you.

  • We’ll be staying in the Bosa Queen House, a lovely family run three star hotel in the heart of the old town. The rooms are light and spacious, with air conditioning and WIFI. The hotel also has a rooftop terrace for guests to enjoy.

Choose from a private ensuite or a twin room. We’ll pair you up with another guest if you are travelling solo. As the hotel is small, we have very limited private rooms, so encourage you to book in asap if this is your preference.

  • Food is a beautiful way to experience local culture. In Sardinia, as in mainland Italy, food is an important part of daily life, being an opportunity to connect with friends and family.

On this retreat, we embrace the food culture of Sardinia, dining at fantastic local restaurants and discovering the rich traditions of slow food, delicious pizza and of course plenty of pasta too!
