Fly into Ljubljana, Slovenia

June to September

Join Gutsy Girls this summer for an unforgettable paddleboarding and hiking adventure in Slovenia. Over six days, we'll uncover some of the country's best-kept secrets whilst gliding across glacier-fed lakes and emerald-green rivers, trekking through the epic Julian Alps, and refueling with mouth-watering local cuisine.

This SUP holiday is perfect for beginners, so no prior paddleboarding experience is needed! From day one, our expert SUP instructor and local guide will introduce you to the art of paddleboarding against the stunning backdrop of Lake Bled, one of Europe's most picture postcard spots for your first taste of SUP.

We’ve partnered with passionate local guides who will not only help you develop your technique on the water but also introduce you to Slovenia’s rich history, culture, and exceptional food and wine, for an immersive journey into the heart of this stunning country.

Location

Over six adventure-packed days, we’ll explore three diverse regions and another country, venturing off the usual tourist track to uncover Slovenia’s most stunning landscapes. From the soaring peaks of the Julian Alps to the emerald rivers winding through hidden valleys and pastel coloured buildings in Trieste, every day promises a new, breathtaking experience.

Our expert local guides have curated the perfect itinerary, ensuring you experience Slovenia’s awe-inspiring scenery in the most exhilarating way, by paddleboard and on foot.

Locations

Stand Up Paddleboarding

This trip is designed for active women who want to master paddleboarding. Our expert SUP instructors will help beginner and novice paddlers to feel confident and capable on the water, guiding you through Slovenia’s most stunning waterways. You’ll be covering distances of 5km to 9km per day, with sessions lasting between 3 to 5 hours. There’ll also be plenty of breaks to soak up the scenery, get your photos and swim in these pristine waters.

More experienced paddlers are welcome, but the pace and distances will be tailored to beginners. If you’re after a more intense paddling challenge, check out our Slovenia Whitewater SUP Adventure!

Hiking

We’ll spend two days hiking through Slovenia’s spectacular landscapes, starting with a scenic trek in the Julian Alps. This trail pushes up through alpine forests to an incredible viewpoint overlooking Lake Bohinj, with a well-earned lunch stop at an alpine hut.

We’ll also explore lesser-known trails leading to hidden waterfalls and crystal-clear swimming spots, a great way to cool off after a hot hike!

Triglav National Park

Our journey begins in the majestic Triglav National Park, home to the iconic Lake Bled and Lake Bohinj. Nestled among towering peaks, these alpine lakes provide the ideal setting to learn paddleboarding. We’ll spend two nights here, giving us ample time to explore the lakes and hike into the Julian Alps.

Soča Valley

Next, we head to the spectacular Soča Valley, where the emerald-green Soča River winds through dramatic canyons. Over three nights, we’ll paddle through serene landscapes, hike picturesque trails, and immerse ourselves in the valley’s raw natural beauty.

Vipava Valley

Our final stop is the Vipava Valley, a striking contrast of rugged Karst mountains and rolling vineyards. Renowned for its exceptional wines, after a day paddling in Trieste, Italy, we’ll head here to visit a local wine cellar and learn more about the regions unique grape varieties, before sampling a few too.
