Fly into Olbia, Sardinia

June - September

A week-long stand up paddleboarding and yoga adventure exploring Sardinia's western coast. 56 miles of coastline with challenging terrain - sandy beaches, secluded bays, cliffs, mountains and rivers.

Six consecutive days with no rest day. Each day we'll explore new locations by SUP and on foot, paddling for hours through crystal clear waters to hidden beaches. Hike ancient trails into Sardinia's wildest sections where the terrain demands your full attention.

Daily yoga sessions to help your aching muscles recover. Our instructor leads Vinyasa-based practice, dynamic and tailored to the group. After consecutive days of activity, holding poses will test you. Whether you can't touch your toes or you're already flexible, your muscles will feel it.

This is also a food adventure. Immerse yourself in local life, learn about slow food traditions, make your own pasta with a nonna (local grandmother), and taste local wines. After long days pushing your body, you'll have earned every bite.

Location

Our base for the week is Bosa, one of Italy's most striking villages. Medieval town set along River Temo's banks, with pastel-coloured houses stacked along the hillside below an ancient castle.

Between demanding days of activity, you'll have time to explore cobblestone streets and piazzas filled with locals enjoying Mediterranean sunshine - perfect for recovering.

Activities

SUP - Stand Up Paddleboarding

Your floating gateway to places you can't reach on foot. Navigate through dramatic sea caves and paddle to hidden coves and beaches completely cut off from the tourist trail. You'll fall in at least once - that's half the fun in crystal clear Mediterranean waters.

Hit waters weaving between towering cliffs, then switch to the winding River Temo where you'll grab figs from overhanging trees and dive in for a swim whenever you fancy.

SUP Levels

Never been on a board before? Our SUP instructor will get you steady and moving. We'll paddle 5-9km daily (3-5 hour sessions) at an easy pace with plenty of breaks. But here's the reality: constant balance engagement works your core relentlessly. Paddling for hours tests shoulders, arms, and back in ways gym sessions don't replicate.

You'll fall in multiple times - getting back on the board repeatedly while tired takes genuine effort. By day two, your shoulders and core will be screaming. By day four, you'll feel the accumulation. The pace is beginner-friendly, but the duration and consecutive days are what test you.

More experienced paddlers welcome - we're not chasing big distances or drilling technique, it's all about exploration. But you'll still spend hours working on the water.

Hiking

Trek ancient trails that lead to viewpoints only the locals know about. Navigate rocky, uneven terrain and overgrown paths where vultures with six-foot wingspans circle overhead - they're being reintroduced to this protected wilderness.

The hikes are remote, the terrain can be demanding and the Mediterranean heat always has an impact, however the views are always worth the effort.

Yoga

Daily practice led by our yoga instructor, suited for all levels.

Never set foot on a mat? Not a problem! Our instructor guides you through the practice, teaching breathwork and adapting postures for your body and level.

Yoga builds flexibility, strength and balance (great for paddleboarding) and helps you unwind. It’s a great start or end to a long day on the board or hiking the mountains.

Via Ferrata

Halfway between scrambling and rock climbing - scale Sardinia's cliffs using steel cables, metal steps, ladders, suspension bridges and zip wires. An adrenaline rush that gets your heart pumping.

You don't need climbing experience or massive upper body strength, but you'll be working against gravity for hours. Your arms will shake on the holds, your legs will feel heavy on ladder rungs, and you'll need to push through when fatigue sets in. You're clipped into safety cables the entire time, so it's about conquering your nerves and enjoying the rush, not technical climbing skills.

Managing nerves when you look down at visible drops while physically tired from days of activity - that's the real challenge. Think adventure playground for adults where the exposure is real and your body has to perform while your brain processes being high off the ground.

In peak summer heat, we may swap Via Ferrata for aquatrekking if it's too hot on exposed climbing routes. Aquatrekking is like canyoning - explore mountain rivers by walking, jumping, swimming and sliding through cold water. Brilliant for hot weather, equally demanding.

Wine Tasting

Wine tasting evening in Bosa sampling Malvasia di Bosa DOC, a unique sweet and dry white wine from a small producer.

This experience isn't just about tasting - it's a journey through the geology, climate, and culture of the town that'll be our home during this adventure.

Travelling solo

Over 90% of guests book solo and we 100% encourage it.

We never ask your age. Our guests range from 18-70+ years old - for us adventure is ageless. You'll connect with women on your retreat because you were drawn to the same experience.

Fitness and Experience Level

  • This trip is rated moderate.

Our adventures are active holidays - you'll be moving your body 4-5 hours each day exploring challenging places. Our trips aren't bootcamps, but don't underestimate what back-to-back active days demand. You need a good level of fitness to keep up and actually enjoy yourself rather than just surviving.

  • Activity Duration: 4-5 hours of activities plus 1 hour of yoga most days.

SUP Distances: 5-9km on calm seas and rivers. Ideal for beginners with no prior experience required, but 3-5 hours on the water will work muscles you didn't know you had. Constant balance works your core relentlessly. You'll fall in multiple times - getting back on the board repeatedly while tired takes effort.

Hiking: 3-4km approx. with 100m elevation gain. The trails are fairly easy, but the terrain can be uneven and slippery.

Via Ferrata: Climbing using ladders, steel holds, and foot holds without needing climbing skills or upper body strength, but you'll be working against gravity for hours. A harness keeps you safe - this is about pushing through when your arms shake and managing your nerves when you look down at drops below.

Head for Heights: Via Ferrata involves ascending and descending exposed ladder sections with visible drops. It's safe but physically and mentally challenging if heights make you uncomfortable. Many guests who fear heights complete it with support from guides and the group.

Consecutive Activity: 6 days back-to-back with no rest day. If you're not used to daily activity, expect muscle soreness that builds as the trip progresses. The yoga helps, but you'll still feel it. Day one you're fresh. Day two you're feeling yesterday. Day three fatigue is accumulating. By day six you're digging deep.

Sun Exposure: Warm summer weather with serious sun exposure, particularly July and August. You'll be on the water most days where sun reflects off the surface, effectively doubling UV exposure. Sun protection is essential, not optional. Heat exhaustion is real.

  • This trip isn't a walk in the park. You don't need to be the fittest person in the room, but you do need to be active in your daily life and ready to push yourself. Get comfortable with being uncomfortable.

  • Bosa Queen House, a 3-star family-run hotel in the heart of old town. Light, spacious rooms with air conditioning and WiFi. There's a rooftop terrace for the group.

Choose a private ensuite or share a twin with another Gutsy Girl. We'll pair you up if you're travelling solo. Very limited private rooms - book early if this is your preference.

After demanding days of activity, having air conditioning and a comfortable bed is what matters.

  • Food plays an important role on our retreats - it's where the group comes together to share experiences from the day, laugh and connect.

Over the week you'll sample Sardinian slow food specialties and traditional dishes, all grown, produced and prepared locally. Eat at fantastic restaurants and with local host families for an authentic experience, including our pasta-making workshop.

After long days on the water and trails pushing your body hard, you'll have earned every bite.
