Join us in Sardinia for our women only stand up paddle boarding and yoga holiday, exploring the western coast of Sardinia. With 56 miles of coastline and varied terrain, from sandy beaches to secluded bays, cliffs, mountains and rivers, it’s the perfect location to explore by water and land.

Each day we’ll discover a new location by stand up paddleboard and on foot, paddling along the coastline on crystal clear waters and discovering hidden beaches. We’ll hike ancient trails and get into the wildest sections of Sardinia for landscapes and views only seen by locals.

Our yoga instructor will lead us in three sessions, with dynamic Vinyasa based classes suited for yogis of all levels.

This is also a food adventure! We’ll be immersing ourselves in local life and learning all about the slow food traditions and food culture of Sardinia and Italy. We’ll be eating in great local restaurants and you’ll learn to make your own pasta with a nonna (local grandmother)! Oh, and did we mention there’s wine tasting too!

Location

We’ll be staying in Bosa, one of Italy’s most picturesque towns. This pretty medieval settlement is set along the river banks of River Temo, with pastel coloured houses stacked along the hillside, watched over by Malaspina Castle. During the week we’ll have plenty of opportunities to explore the cobblestone streets and lively piazzas teeming with people enjoying the Mediterranean sunshine.

Our base will be a lovely three star hotel, with light and airy rooms. Choose from a private double room or opt to share a twin room with another Gutsy Girl

Activities

SUP - Stand Up Paddleboarding

This adventure is all about exploring beautiful wilderness and coastal locations by stand up paddleboard and on foot. Perfect for both beginner and experienced paddlers who want to improve their skills and explore stunning locations.

We’ll be paddling on both the sea and theRiver Temo, exploring beautiful coastlines, weaving our way through sea caves, swimming in secluded bays, discovering hidden beaches and heading into the countryside on our river tour.

SUP Levels

This paddleboarding holiday is great for beginner and novice paddlers!

If you’ve never been on a board before, our SUP instructor will get you up and moving in no time as we explore incredible locations. We’ll paddle between 5km and 9km per day with breaks to take in the views and try new paddle skills.

More experienced paddlers are very welcome. Please note, the pace, skills, and distances will be tailored for beginners.

Coastal Walk

The west coast of Sardinia has many preserved and protected wilderness spots.

We’ll be hiking on rugged paths to reach remote spots for incredible view points, immersing ourselves in nature and keeping a watchful eye for wildlife, including the rare Griffon Vulture with six foot wingspans!

Yoga

Our fantastic yoga instructor will guide us in a daily practice, great for all level yogis.

If you’ve never even set foot on a mat, no problem. Our instructor is highly experienced and will guide you through the practice, teaching you about breathwork and adapting the postures for your body and level.

Yoga is fantastic not only for improving flexibility, strength and balance (great for paddle boarding) it’s also a great way to stretch our tired muscles after a day on the water.

Via Ferrata

Via Ferrata is a protected climbing route, with a variety of steel cable rails, metal steps, ladders, suspension bridges and zip wires. Described as halfway between scrambling and rock climbing, Via Ferrata allows non-experienced climbers the opportunity to scale to new heights. Literally.

It’s an adrenaline pumping activity and one of the (many) highlights of the trip. You do not need previous climbing experience, just good fitness and a head for heights!

In the height of summer we may need to replace the Via Ferrata with aquatrekking if it is too hot to be out on the exposed climbing route all day! Aquatrekking is a bit like canyoning, where we explore a mountain river by walking, jumping, swimming and sliding in the river stream. It’s a great hot weather activity!

Wine Tasting

Our adventure in Sardinia includes a special wine tasting evening in Bosa, where we'll sample the Malvasia di Bosa DOC, a unique sweet and dry white wine from a small producer.

This experience is not just about tasting; it's a journey through the geology, climate, and culture of the quaint town that will be our home during this adventure.

Travelling solo

Over 90% of our guests book in solo and we 100% encourage it!

Our guests range from 18-70+ years old - for us adventure is ageless! You’ll connect with the women on your retreat because you were drawn to the same experience. And age is irrelevant as you’re paddling down rivers, hiking into the remote landscapes and hanging off the Via Ferrata!

Fitness and Experience Level

  • Our adventures are active holidays, you’ll be moving your body for 4-5 hours each day to explore beautiful places. Our trips are not bootcamps, but to get the most out of the experience you’ll need a good level of fitness.

This trip is rated as moderate.

  • Activity Duration: 4-5 hours of activities plus one hour of yoga most days.

SUP Distances: Journey between 5km and 9km on both the sea and rivers. Ideal for beginners and novice paddlers, with no prior experience required.

Hiking: Our hikes will vary from 3.5km to 10km, chosen based on weather and heat.

Hiking Terrain: Navigate through uneven, rocky paths with loose stones underfoot.

Via Ferrata: Experience the thrill of climbing using ladders, steel handles, and foot holds without needing climbing skills. A harness ensures your safety.

Head for Heights: Our Via Ferrata adventure involves ascending and descending ladders. It’s a safe yet adrenaline-pumping challenge for those willing to test their limits.

Consecutive Activity: Prepare for six days of back-to-back activities on hot weather, which can be demanding if you don’t have the right level of fitness.

Sun Exposure: We’ll be in Italy in summer - expect the weather to be hot. There will also be substantial sun exposure, particularly in July and August.

  • This trip is for active women who want to try a new summer sport in a stunning location. If paddling in crystal clear waters, hiking along rugged trails and testing your metal on a Via Ferrata sounds like the perfect way to spend a week, then this is the trip for you.

  • We’ll be staying in the Bosa Queen House, a lovely family run three star hotel in the heart of the old town. The rooms are light, spacious, have air conditioning and wifi. There’s also a rooftop terrace for guests to enjoy!

Choose from a private ensuite or a twin room. We’ll pair you up with another guest if you are travelling solo. As the hotel is small, we have very limited private rooms, so encourage you to book in asap if this is your preference.

  • Food as always plays an important role on our trips - it’s a time for the group to come together and share their experiences from the day, refuel and relax.

Over the week you’ll be sampling Sardinian slow food specialties and traditional dishes, all grown, produced and prepared locally. We’ll be eating in fantastic restaurants and with local host families for an authentic experience, including our fantastic pasta-making workshop!
