The Destination
Your adventure starts here
After a scenic transfer to the village of Biescas, we'll check into our accommodation for the week. Once settled, we'll gather for a trip briefing - everything you need to know about the days ahead.
Welcome dinner at a local village restaurant. Time to meet your group and fuel up for the week ahead.
We ease into the adventure with a hike to Ibon de Piedrafita, a mountain lake tucked beneath the dramatic cliffs of the Sierra de Partacua.
The trail winds through quiet woodlands and alpine meadows, with views across the Valle de Tena that'll make you stop in your tracks.
Back to base, tired legs and all. Spa time and then dinner at a local restaurant.
Today's circular route takes us to the summit of Punta del Pacino, smack in the heart of the valley. We'll hike through alpine meadows and ancient beech forests before the final push to the top.
At the summit, you'll be rewarded with 360-degree views with dozens of peaks stretching out in every direction.
Downtime to explore the town or hit the sauna, then dinner.
Breakfast, then make your sandwich and grab your pack lunch. A 20-minute drive gets us to Panticosa, where the gondola whisks us 700 metres up the mountain so we start high above the village.
Two options from the top: there and back, taking the gondola down, or the full circuit hiking all the way back to the village. Either way, it's a great hike with big views, and your legs will know about it by the end.
Rest tired muscles in the spa, then refuel at dinner in a town.
Welcome to the Ordesa Valley, a kilometre-deep canyon framed by towering cliffs and a ring of 3,000-metre peaks, including Monte Perdido. We take a bouncy 4x4 taxi ride up to the canyon rim, where the hike begins.
Walking along the edge of the valley, we'll cross through high-altitude meadows to the even deeper Añisclo Canyon. The final stop is a viewpoint that'll leave you speechless.
Our last dinner together in the Pyrenees. Time to reflect on the week, swap stories, and savour the moment.
Final breakfast together, then we say goodbye to the Pyrenees and transfer back to Zaragoza.

The Answers
You don’t need a mountaineering background, but you do need real hill-walking experience under your belt. This isn’t a gentle introduction to the outdoors, you’ll be covering up to 18km a day on rocky, uneven mountain trails with ascents up to 750m. If you’ve tackled hilly terrain with a daypack and know what your body can handle across a full active day, you’re in the right territory.
This trip is four consecutive days of mountain hiking, covering 12–18km daily with significant elevation gain. Trails are rocky and uneven, some sections are exposed (you’ll need a head for heights) and the more demanding days can be up to nine hours out including breaks. You don’t need to be an elite athlete, but you do need solid cardiovascular fitness and honest stamina. If long days on tough terrain sound like your kind of challenge, you’ll be in your element.
Each day brings different terrain across the Spanish Pyrenees. Your local mountain guide will teach you alpine hiking skills as you go such as pole technique and moving confidently on exposed ground. They’re also knowledgeable about local flora and fauna so you’ll learn plenty about the wildlife you see.
Yes. Some routes include exposed ridges and viewpoints with significant drops nearby. You do need to be comfortable on open, exposed mountain ground.
Waterproof hiking boots with ankle support are mandatory and they need to be properly broken in too. New boots on Day 1 means blisters by Day 2 on terrain like this. Wear them on hilly walks in the weeks before the trip until they feel completely comfortable. Your boots are the most important item you’ll pack (blister plasters are the second).
You can bring your own poles if you like, but it’s not necessary. Your guide will have a set you can borrow on arrival – please just let your host know in advance that you want to loan some for the week.
Most people fly into Zaragoza (ZAZ) – Ryanair runs a regular route from London Stansted (approximately 1hr 45min). From Zaragoza it’s around 1hr 30min by road to our base in Biescas. If you’d rather not fly you can get a connecting high-speed train from Madrid or Barcelona to Zaragoza-Delicias in approximately 1hr 45min. Our set-time transfer offers pick up and drop off from both the airport and the train station.
We run one shared transfer each way that collects guests from both Zaragoza Airport and Zaragoza Delicias Train Station.

Transfers run on a fixed schedule so plan your flights and trains around these times.
Warm, sunny, but unpredictable. Expect comfortable hiking temperatures, strong mountain sun at altitude, and the very real possibility of an afternoon storm rolling in on what started as a clear day. Mountain weather changes fast, so packing a layering system – base layer, mid-layer, waterproof shell – and high-factor sunscreen is essential, not optional. Our guides monitor conditions daily and adjust routes accordingly.
The daily routes are planned around conditions, group fitness, and weather — which is what makes the experience both safer and better. Your guides have alternatives for every day, so if the weather closes in on a particular summit or trail, you’ll be rerouted rather than grounded. You’ll know the next day’s plan each evening, with the understanding that mountains don’t always follow a schedule.
Around €10–25 per day will cover any extras such as additional drinks, ice creams and souvenirs comfortably. All meals are included, so this is purely for personal spending. Cards are accepted at the hotel and at the restaurants we use, so you don’t need to arrive with a wallet full of euros.
Yes. You cannot come on a Gutsy Girls trip without travel insurance. Mountain rescue in the Pyrenees can involve helicopter evacuation, which isn’t covered by a standard European Health Insurance Card, but you even need it for the less dramatic stuff like flight delays and lost luggage. Make sure your policy covers mountain hiking, medical expenses, and emergency evacuation. If you’re unsure what to look for, drop us a message and we can point you in the right direction.
