June & September
Ready to kayak, eBike and hike your way around Sardinia’s east coast? Then we have the perfect trip for you.
Over four nights, you'll tackle this iconic coastline from every angle. Paddle along dramatic cliffs and into hidden coves by sea kayak, pedal through olive groves and cork forests on an eBike and hike ancient shepherd's trails that cut through dense Mediterranean scrub. Each day brings different terrain, a different adventure, and a different way to move through this incredible landscape.
With so many different activities at hand, this trip itinerary can adapt depending on the weather. You’ll still have four days of solid activity and truly explore the East Coast, but the activities or destinations may change depending on what the summer climate brings.
Location
Sardinia's East Coast is an adventure playground waiting to be explored. While most visitors are content lounging on resort beaches, the real action is happening on the coastal paths, quiet country roads, and crystal-clear waters around them. On this trip you’ll get to explore this area before the crowds realise what it really is - a haven for active travellers who want more than just a sunbed.
The landscape here is still wild and natural, with many beaches and trails only accessible on foot or by sea. Luckily, on this adventure we have you covered!
Activities
eBiking
eBikes give you the freedom to cover ground without destroying your legs. You'll still work up a sweat on the climbs, but the electric assist means you can enjoy the views instead of just surviving them. The bike's boost will power you along coastal routes, scenic dirt roads and panoramic tracks overlooking the Gulf of Orosei.
Hiking
Sardinia's east coast is a hiker's paradise. There’s no crowds and no phone signal - just you and one of Europe's deepest canyons. The route takes you through towering limestone cliffs and rugged mountain terrain that feels wild and remote. It's challenging, it's beautiful, and by the time you're done, you'll have that deep-in-your-bones satisfaction that only comes from a big day outdoors.
Sea Kayaking
Kayaking along Sardinia's coastline gives you a perspective you can't get any other way. Limestone cliffs tower out of the water as you paddle turquoise seas to a secluded white sand beach. It's active, it's fun, and it's a real adventure as you pull up on a bay only accessible by foot or sea.
Fitness and Experience Level
-
This trip is rated as moderate.
You'll move your body every day, but you don't need to be an elite athlete. To enjoy the trip fully, you'll need a decent level of fitness and some stamina. It's not a walk in the park, but we're not climbing Everest either.
-
Duration: Full active days. You'll be out from morning until late afternoon, with breaks built in for lunch and the occasional swim.
Distance: The eBike day covers 25km through varied terrain. The canyon hike is a full day out-and-back route. Sea kayaking involves several hours on the water with beach stops.
Elevation: The canyon hike includes some decent ascent through mountainous terrain. The eBike route has climbs, but the electric assist is there to help when your legs start complaining.
Terrain: Limestone cliffs, rocky mountain paths, coastal trails, dirt roads, and open water. You'll need to be comfortable with uneven ground and some technical sections.
Heights: The canyon involves towering limestone walls. If you're uncomfortable with heights or exposed sections, this might not be your trip.
Consecutive Days: Three days of activity back-to-back. You'll feel it, but the variety keeps things interesting - kayaking uses different muscles than hiking, and the eBike gives your legs a bit of a break.
Accommodation: Comfortable twin rooms in a traditional countryside hotel. Hot showers, proper beds, and Italian hospitality. There are no private rooms available.
Weather: September in Sardinia means warm days, cooler evenings, and generally reliable conditions. Pack sun protection and layers.
-
If you're reasonably fit, up for trying new activities, and excited about exploring Sardinia from every angle - yes. If you're coming straight off the sofa with zero training - probably not. Somewhere in between? Get yourself moving before you arrive, and you'll be fine.
-
Stay in a traditional Albergo Diffuso in the Sardinian countryside - cosy twin rooms, farmhouse dinners and genuine Italian hospitality. Rooms are spread across former houses and farm buildings, all part of a conservation-focused restoration programme. They're spacious and tidy, with private bathrooms and wifi.
-
Breakfast is served each morning at the hotel and lunches are eaten out on the trails. Evenings mean local restaurants or a nearby shepherd's farm for hearty dinners made with fresh, regional produce. There’s also the opportunity to make your own dinner at a pasta making workshop one evening.
