If you’ve ever wanted to try eBiking on less travelled trails, now is your chance! Our four-night eBiking Adventure takes in the best of North Macedonia, with guided rides through an epic National Park, remote rural villages, crystal blue lakes and picturesque valleys. 

The high spec eMountain bikes make this a perfect trip for those relatively new to mountain biking or experienced cyclists who want to know what all the eBike buzz is about. If you’ve got a passion for cycling, then, with a tiny boost from the bikes, enjoy three days of rides to some of the region's highlights before capping off the day with a relaxing evening surrounded by some serious scenery.

North Macedonia is one of Europe’s greatest secrets. From awe-inspiring scenery, to untouched ancient villages, delicious food and a rapidly booming adventure sport scene, North Macedonia is the perfect location for those looking for an adrenaline kick, with a hefty side helping of culture.

    Explore North Macedonia’s epic wilderness on an eBike! The high quality eBikes make exploring distances easier, as you whizz along mountain passes, past glacial lakes and through pine forests. 

    Although you do still need to peddle, change gear and negotiate different terrains, eBikes help add a bit of extra power when you need it most. It makes it a perfect way to see the amazing landscapes North Macedonia has to offer.

    This trip is ideal if you have a love of cycling and enjoy the ride! With the freedom of the ebike’s boost you’ll get to encounter some stunning scenery as you make hill climbs, then stop for hearty lunches deep in the national park.

  • National Parks

    After recently crowning another area with National Park status to bring the total to 4, North Macedonia’s renown for stunning scenery is front and centre. We’ll be visiting two of the national parks, Mavrovo National Park and Sharr National Park. Each contains sweeping mountains, wildlife and views for days.

  • Mavrovo Lake

    Mavrovo lake is one of the most extensive artificial lakes in the country and with its calm surroundings and beautiful scenery, it’s an ideal location for lunch. Before you get there though, cycle through villages and highland, with your biking giving you a little extra power to breeze through the distance!

  • Karanikola Lake

    Karanikola Lake is tucked away on the border between North Macedonia and Kosovo. Made from glacial water, it’s the third largest in the Sharr National Park, the jewel in the crown of the dramatic mountains around it.

  • Leshnica Valley

    Nestled in the heart of the Sharr Mountains is the picturesque Leshnica Valley.  The route takes you on a 2000m climb, before dropping down through dense pine forests, past remote villages and across wild rivers. For those who want to go the extra mile, there will also be the opportunity to switch your bike for hiking boots and do an optional hike to visit the cave-fed waterfalls of Krivoshija.

    Sink your teeth into the local flavours of North Macedonian food! From homemade jams and pies to grilled meats, stuffed cabbage and fresh cheese, every care is taken where possible to make sure the food is fresh, locally sourced and home made.

National Parks

Vodno Mountain

Climb Vodno Mountain for incredible views down across Skopje. The route’s a steep one, but it will be a real chance to test how much the eBike gives that extra boost. Get your photos, then hit the descent on quiet roads and dirt trails to Matka Canyon.

Fitness and Experience Level

  • This ebiking holiday is rated as moderate. 

    It involves three consecutive days of cycling on demanding terrain, covering between 30-45km per day with ascents and descents.

    eBikes do make cycling easier, however you still need to peddle and maneuver your bike. Therefore a good level of fitness is needed, as well as confidence with cycling rocky, uneven paths.

    This trip would be perfect for those who already love cycling and want to increase their mountain biking experience, whilst getting right into the heart of an amazing country.

  • You’ll be eBiking up to 45km a day for three consecutive days. There will be plenty of breaks on the routes and the chance to relax in the evenings with good food and a spa.

    Cycling will mainly be on gravel paths, with some steeper descents.

    A good level of fitness is needed, as well as a love for the mountains and cycling, and an appetite for both challenge and reward.

    • Mavrovo Highland Ride: Distance: 36-46 km (route depending), Ascent: 450 m, Descent: 630 m

    • Leshnica Valley Ride: Distance: 45 km, Elevation gain/loss: ±1240 m (roughly)

    • Vakaf Meadows Ride: Distance: 30 km, Elevation gain: 450m

  • You don’t need to be the best cyclist - the ebike can help you with that - but a good level of fitness and a love of the outdoors and bike riding are essential! 

    This trip is suited to those who are confident cycling on varied, sometimes exposed terrain, and are ready for full days on the move.

  • We’ll be staying in two hotels, both with their own dash of Balkan charm!

    For the first night we’ll stay in a boutique hotel in the heart of Skopje. Then we’ll move on to Popova Shapka to a great hotel with spa facilities and a swimming pool.

  • Fill up on the true taste of North Macedonia with delicious breakfasts, farm to table dinners, BBQ nights and organic cheese!

    Breakfast will be served at the hotels, whilst lunches include a mix of packed meals and chances to dine out. Dinner in Skopje will be at a local restaurant and in the hotel restaurant for the rest of the trip.

    Most dietary requirements can be accommodated; just let us know in advance. Vegan diets will have very limited options.

Itinerary

  • Day 1

    Afternoon: Land at Skopje Airport and transfer to your city center hotel. Meet your bike and take a short ride through the capital to shake off the flight.

    Evening: Cruise through Skopje's Old Bazaar, over the Stone Bridge, and into the city parks. Dinner at a local taverna for rich Balkan flavours and bold wines.

  • Day 2

    Morning: Climb Vodno Mountain past the 12th-century St. Pantelejmon Church, then descend on scenic roads and dirt trails to Matka Canyon.

    Afternoon: Hike the gorge, refuel with lakeside lunch, then transfer to the Shara Mountains. Check into your hotel in Popova Shapka - mountain views, spa, and homemade dishes.

    Evening: Settle in and fuel up for the days ahead.

  • Day 3

    Morning: Climb to 2000m, then drop into singletracks through dense pine forests. Ride deep into Leshnica Valley with an optional hike to Krivoshija Waterfall.

    Afternoon: Continue past remote villages and across wild rivers. It's a long day, but it delivers.

    Evening: Spa time, sunset beers, and dinner at the hotel.

    Distance: 45 km | Elevation gain/loss: ±1240 m

  • Day 4

    Morning: Ride across high meadows with sweeping views of Macedonia below. Stop at sheep farms and local landmarks.

    Afternoon: Mountain grill lunch, then a short ride back to the hotel.

    Evening: Your last night so time for a final spa and farewell dinner

    Morning: Breakfast and transfer to the airport. Head home with tired legs and a phone full of photos

    We offer group transfers to and from Skopje airport on arrival and departure days. Transfers run on a fixed schedule and can’t be delayed.

  • Women join us from all over the world, so to make it easier we put on transfers and you're welcome to then book any flights that work with those timings.

    Transfers run on a fixed schedule and can’t be delayed. We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers delays, cancellations, and missed connections.

    If your flights do not align with the transfer times we can also book you a private transfer:

    • Arrival - from Skopje airport to the hotel in Skopje: €30 approx.

    • Departure - from Shar National Park to Skopje Airport:  €80 approx.
