Escape the everyday and reconnect with nature on our exclusive women-only paddleboarding adventure in Surrey, gliding along one of the most beautiful and tranquil stretches of the River Wey. Whether you're a complete beginner or have some experience on a paddleboard, this relaxing day trip from Godalming to Guildford is the perfect way to build confidence, embrace the outdoors, and enjoy time with like-minded women.
We’ll be paddling 9km, with a stop for lunch (bring your own packed lunch!), and the downstream current will mean we can relax into the journey and appreciate the pretty landscape around us, including views of the stunning Surrey hills to the east.
The Paddle
We begin our adventure in the charming market town of Godalming, just 40 minutes from London Waterloo by train. We’ll meet at Godalming Wharf at 10am, a short and scenic walk from the train station through the riverside park.
After a warm welcome and paddleboarding coaching session from our expert instructor, we’ll launch onto the water and start our 9km downstream journey. This stretch of the River Wey is renowned for its serene beauty: we’ll pass historic locks, lush green fields, weeping willows, and spot the rolling Surrey Hills in the distance.
As we paddle at a relaxed pace, depending on your instructor, you may be invited to try some gentle mindfulness or yoga exercises to help you connect more deeply with your surroundings and unwind into the rhythm of the river.
Pause for a Picnic & Finish at Dapdune Wharf
We’ll take a peaceful break in a beautiful riverside spot to enjoy a packed picnic lunch (please bring your own). It’s the perfect opportunity to relax, breathe deeply, and enjoy the calm of nature with your fellow adventurers.
Our journey ends at Dapdune Wharf, a stunning and historic National Trust site in Guildford. This lovely spot offers a convenient and comfortable finish, with a tearoom, toilet facilities, and a smooth landing area—no walking with boards required! From here, it’s just a short stroll to Guildford train station if you’re heading home or fancy exploring the town further.
Beginner Friendly
You don’t need any previous experience to join as our instructor will guide you through everything you need to know to paddle confidently on the water, and all essential equipment is provided. We’ll go at a relaxed pace, taking in the captivating surroundings as we go. Plus the downstream direction we’ll be taking means this should be a calm and comfortable day out on the water.
For those with previous experience, it’s a wonderful opportunity to paddle in new surroundings and enjoy a truly beautiful route.
