Fly into Pula, Croatia

This trip is for anyone who wants to try a bit of everything. Over five nights we’ll hike, eBike, raft and swim through incredible backdrops and jaw-dropping scenery.

Not satisfied with just trying a different activity each day? This adventure also spans three different countries, giving you more variety than a tin of Quality Streets. There’s also the chance to try local wines, sample regional dishes and experience proper Balkan hospitality.

If you want to try something new or can’t settle on what activity you’d like to do, and want to get away from the crowds this summer, then this is the trip for you.

Location

This trip takes in the best bits of three countries. Yes Slovenia and Croatia are fast becoming popular tourist destinations, but not the way we’re doing them. Leave the crowded beaches of the Dalmatian Coast to explore Croatia’s quieter Istrian peninsula, before crossing the border into the heart of the Triglav National Park in Slovenia. There’s also a stop in Italy on the way for a hike under the dramatic Mangart massif and swim in a pristine alpine lake.

You’ll spend most of the trip exploring mountain paths, winding rivers and dramatic coasts on this Mediterranean-to-Alpine journey.  However, there’s still the opportunity for a bit of city culture too with visits to historic Pula and picture-postcard-perfect Ljubljana topping and tailing the trip.

This trip has two solid hikes. The first tackles a sunset hike through the Momjan wine region, with a hidden waterfall stop along the way.

Once in Slovenia there’s a morning summit hike in the Julian Alps. It's a climb and the altitude will remind you you're definitely in the mountains, but the views are worth every step. You don't need to be a seasoned hiker, but bring your determination and a decent level of fitness - these aren’t casual strolls.

Hiking

eBiking

Two full days on e-bikes, two completely different landscapes. One takes you along the historic Parenzana railway through Istrian vineyards and hilltop villages, stopping in medieval Motovun for lunch. The other is a ride through Vrata Valley with stops at Peričnik Waterfall and views of Triglav's northern wall. The eBikes handle the climbs, so you focus on the scenery. If you can ride a bike and are up for a full day in the saddle, you're good to go.

Rafting

Experience the Soča River in a completely different way. You won’t be rafting on extreme whitewater, but there's enough action to get your adrenaline going. The guides handle the technical bits; you just paddle when told and hold on when it gets bouncy. No experience needed, just a willingness to get wet and have a laugh.
