What to Expect

You’ll be joining a small group of women and an expert expedition leader for a 5 day expedition paddling through the fjords, surrounded by steep mountains, thundering waterfalls, camping in wild locations and discovering remote villages.

On this adventure, we’ll paddle between 9-16km, between 4-6 hours per day at a comfortable pace to take in the beauty of our surroundings. Stopping along the shore line to explore hiking trails, challenging ourselves to swim in deepest part of the fjord, showering in waterfalls, dolphin watching and fishing..

This is the ideal escape for those looking to go offline and reconnect with nature.

We’ll be exploring Søgnefjord the largest and deepest navigatable in the world, extending from the coast just north of Bergen up to the mountains of Jotunheimen National park. Søgnefjord plunges to more than 1,300 metres deep with the surrounding mountains rising to 1,700 metres creating a dramatic backdrop to our SUP adventure.

Nærøyfjord is the the most spectular of all Norwegian Fjords, in sections the Fjord is just 250 metres wide, with snow-covered steep mountains towering over at 1,800 metres. Paddling through this UNESCO world heritage site of outstanding beauty is unforgettable and humbling experience.

Through the expedition we’ll be accompanied by pods of dolphins, paddle past thundering waterfalls and discover remote beaches and villages only accessible by water. Standup paddle boarding is the perfect low impact way to explore this truly beautiful location, leaving no trace of our presence on this exhibition.

This is an exclusive women only expedition. You’ll be joining 6 -10 women for the incredible experience. We’ll introduce you all before hand and see if we can all get out on the water together before the trip!

Can’t make these dates? No problem! We will try our best to fit you into another expedition.

9 KM

Gudvangen - Odnes

We start our expedition off with our shortest SUP distance to improve technique and get comfortable on our boards. Starting in Gudvangen the southernmost post of Næryøfjord we will set off at a steady pace, taking in the breath taking surroundings, with impossibly high mountains either side of us and loud waterfalls carving themselves into the mountains cliff face.

Our first destination is Odnes, we’ll set up camp on the most grassy area behind the beach. With 20 hours of daylight, we’ll have the choice of swimming beneath the Odnesfoss waterfall or exploring the royal postal footpaths. In the evening, we’ll settle in for a night around the camp fire and sleep too the sounds of the powerful waterfall behind us!

Sleeping in traditional Norwegian campsite with compost toilets

Odnes - Dyrdal- Aurlandsfjord

After breakfast and a quick dip in the waterfall river, we’ll fill our bottles with the sweet crisp water from the glacier and head off for our second day of paddling on the arguably the most beautiful half of the Nærøyfjørd. We will stop for lunch at Dyrdal, a tiny remote village only accessible by boat, here we’ll refuel on a traditional Norwegian lunch and watch for dolphins!

After lunch we’ll continue on to our wild camp where the 3 fjords meet, we’ll camp right on the waters edge and if we are lucky will have dolphins past right past our tents. This is the perfect spot for some fishing and survival training from our expert guide!

Wild Camping.

Aurlandsfojrd - Undredal

Today we’ll paddle south pass the entrance of Nærfjørd and further into Aurlandsjord. Dotted along the cliffs are farm houses and goats showing off their rock climbing skills on the steep cliff faces. Tonight we’ll be staying in Undredal, a tiny remote traditional Norwegian village, famous for it’s goats cheese!

Dinner will be in a restaurant right on the waters edge, sampling traditional food. Here we’ll camp in an established campsite with showers, toilets and electricity! Plus there’s a village shop for us to restock on snacks!

Today will be our longest paddle distance, heading back North to re-enter Nareøfjord to paddle to a beautiful and rare sandy beach for another Norwegian tradition of fire-grilled Pøsler. For our last night, we can choose where to camp with most groups choosing Odnes to sleep to the sounds of the thundering waterfall.

16 KM

Undredal - Dyrdal Beach - Odnes

On our last day on the water we’ll make the journey back to the Gudvangen, paddling on the same tracks but in a different direction offers new beautiful vistas and a moment to reflect on the past 5 days on the water. To enjoy the still and silence of being in nature, detached from the outside world!

We’ll arrive back in Gudvangen in time for the daily coach back to Bergen, to even spend a night in the city or fly home.
