Accommodation & Food

  • This week you'll experience the full range:

    • Two nights at a rustic hiker's refuge - basic but cozy, with mountain views and triple rooms

    • Two nights wild camping with your own tent - no showers, stars overhead, waking up to the beach

    • One night camping at a shepherd's farm with showers and authentic Sardinian hospitality

    • One night at a hotel to finish - hot showers, real beds, and a celebration dinner overlooking the mountains

No private rooms available. You'll have your own tent when camping, but you'll share triple rooms when there are four walls around you.

  • Towels and hairdryers are available  at the refuge and hotel. For camping nights, pack a quick-dry towel and embrace the adventure.

  • No laundry. Bring travel wash if you want to hand-rinse things, or just lean into the hiking life for a few days. Everyone's in the same boat.

  • Fresh, local, and seriously good. Think salads and sandwiches made with Sardinian produce for lunch, restaurant dinners featuring local specialties, and meals delivered by boat while you're camped on the beach. Breakfast spreads at the refuge and hotel will fuel you for big days. At the shepherd's farm, expect home-cooked traditional food.

  • We can do vegetarian, gluten-free, and dairy-free, but options will be more limited than you're used to. Unfortunately we can’t cater for vegans on this trip - Sardinian cuisine is built on cheese, meat, and dairy.

If you've got specific needs and want an honest chat about what's realistic, get in touch before booking. We'd rather talk it through now than have you disappointed (and hungry) later.

Activities

  • This is a challenging trip for experienced hikers ready to level up. Five consecutive days on your feet, covering up to 14km daily with serious climbs and descents on steep, rocky, exposed terrain.

You need solid fitness, confidence on uneven ground, and a head for heights. You'll tackle sections of the Selvaggio Blu - one of Italy's toughest multi-day routes - and hike narrow clifftop paths with jaw-dropping Mediterranean views.

Be honest with yourself about your fitness. This trip rewards you with incredible experiences, but you've got to put the work in.

  • If you're a regular day hiker and ready to push yourself, this could be your trip. But consecutive hiking days are a different beast; your legs will know about it.

  • If you're excited (not nervous) about hiking ancient shepherd's trails to hidden beaches, sleeping in a tent on the sand, and spending five days exploring one of Europe's most stunning and unspoiled coastlines, this is absolutely for you.

If you're hesitant about steep terrain, heights, or two nights without a shower, let's talk. We want you to love every minute of this trip, not spend it wishing you'd chosen something different.

  • Get your cardio up with activities such as running, cycling, swimming, long walks with hills. Build endurance and get comfortable being active for several hours.

Leg strength is crucial. Squats, lunges, step-ups will save you on those descents. If you can, practice back-to-back hiking days with a daypack to see how your body responds.

The fitter you are, the more you'll enjoy the views instead of just surviving the climbs.

Gear & Packing

  • Tents and ground support. Your main luggage gets moved by van and boat between camps, so you only carry a daypack (around 25L) with water, snacks, layers, and daily essentials.

  • Layers. Coastal Sardinia is hot during the day but can cool off in the mornings, evenings, and at higher elevations.

    • Base layers: Wool or synthetic tops - ditch the cotton

    • Hiking trousers, leggings or shorts: Quick-dry and breathable

    • Waterproof jacket: For wind protection on exposed ridges

    • Sun protection: Hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, buff

Fleece or light insulated layer: For evenings at camp

  • Yes. You can find it here.

  • Yes, a 25L daypack for water, snacks, sun protection, and extra layers. We also recommend dry bags to keep you items dry and organised inside your bag.

  • Nope. We've got tents and logistics covered. You just need your hiking boots, daypack, and personal kit.

  • Sturdy, broken-in hiking boots with ankle support. Non-negotiable. The terrain is rocky, steep, and uneven—trainers or hiking shoes won't cut it. Break your boots in before you arrive. Starting day one with blisters will ruin your week, and nobody wants that.

Pack rock shoes or sturdy water shoes—these beaches are all pebbles, and trust us, your feet will appreciate it when you're getting in and out of the water.

Other Questions

  • September and October bring warm, sunny days along Sardinia's coast—typically 20-25°C. Perfect hiking weather. Evenings can be cooler, especially at elevation, so bring layers.

Weather and sea conditions can shift the itinerary, so come ready to adapt. That's all part of the adventure.

  • Most places take cards, but bring some euros for personal extras—gelato stops (essential), drinks, souvenirs.

  • Age is irrelevant. We've had women up to 70 join our adventures.

What matters is fitness, confidence on challenging terrain, and genuine enthusiasm for wild camping and long hiking days. Be honest about your abilities, not your age.

Most Gutsy Girls are between 24-60, with around 60% in their 30s-40s. But after a day tackling the Selvaggio Blu and camping under the stars, age disappears—what connects you is the shared experience.

  • Yes, and you should. Most women join solo, and it's one of the best ways to meet incredible people. We'll add you to a WhatsApp group before the trip so you can connect with your group ahead of time.

  • We work with female guides whenever we can, but there aren't as many available in the outdoor industry—yet.

What we won't compromise on is quality. Our guides are experienced, patient, passionate, and as committed as we are to building women's confidence outdoors. Sometimes that means working with male guides.

Guest feedback drives our decisions. And we're hopeful that as more women discover adventure sports, the balance will shift.

  • Safety comes first, always. If conditions aren't right, our local guides will adjust the plan. They know this coastline inside out and have backup options ready.

Trust them—they're keeping you safe while making sure you have an unforgettable week.

  • The itinerary is a guide, not a rigid schedule. Our guides will shuffle things based on weather, sea conditions, and group pace. Some days might be longer, others shorter—it's all part of reading the environment and making smart calls.

Be flexible with them. They're working hard to give you the best possible experience while keeping everyone safe.
