Activities
-
This trip is aimed at beginners, so no previous experience with kayaking, paddleboarding or hiking is needed. However, to get the most out of your adventure, you will need a baseline of good fitness to ensure you’ve got the energy and drive to tackle each daily activity.
You do need to be able to ride a bike to take part in the cycling day.
-
Boosting your cardiovascular fitness is a brilliant way to build up endurance and stamina. A brisk walk where you’re just a little out of breath does the trick nicely—or, if you fancy upping the ante, try running, cycling, or any other high-intensity activity that gets your heart pumping.

This trip is rated moderate.

Gear & Packing
-
We will supply a life jacket.
We recommend wearing sportswear and thin layers over your swimwear, as well as a thin water/windproof jacket.
You may get wet so it’s advisable to bring a second set of clothing with you.
-
Yes! You can find a detailed packing list here.
-
Absolutely, you’ll want to bring a daypack with plenty of room for those extra layers you’ll be peeling off as you warm up. A backpack around 25 litres should do the trick.
Pop a warm, insulated jacket in there for rest stops—it’ll keep the chill away when you’re not moving. And don’t forget a spare pair of gloves because, let’s face it, wet gloves are a proper mood-ruiner.
Leave a bit of extra space in your bag before you set off—you’ll likely need it for stashing layers as you heat up on the trail.
Top tip: pack a couple of lightweight dry bags to keep everything inside your backpack dry and cosy. Wet kit = no fun!
-
We normally paddle in swimwear or sportswear. Remember a hat/cap and a long sleeved top or rash vest that covers you in the midday heat!
If the conditions are cooler, we recommend a long john or shorty wetsuit, though this is completely optional!
Bring a rain coat just in case.
Check out the packing list.

You can read the weather forecast here.
September sees the start of autumn in Lofoten. After a summer of midnight sun, days become shorter and the air temperature drops. Be prepared for rain and storms, but days can also be cool and crisp.
-
No need to stuff your wallet with cash — credit and debit cards are accepted almost everywhere. That said, it’s handy to carry a small amount of local currency for those occasional personal expenses.
-
There’s no upper age limit for our adventures—our Gutsy Girls community welcomes women from 18 to 70+! We never ask your age, only that you’re ready for a bit of adventure and a lot of fun.
Most of our guests are between 24 and 60, with around 60% in their 30s and 40s. But once we’re out there—cycling over hills, hiking to breathtaking peaks, or paddling through remote waters—age truly becomes irrelevant. It’s all about sharing incredible experiences, laughing together, and building friendships that span generations.
-
Absolutely! We’d love for you to join us solo!
Over 95% of our guests come on their own, and we’re all about helping you connect with like-minded adventurers. It’s a warm, welcoming vibe—come as you are, we can’t wait to meet you and make some amazing memories together!
-
At Gutsy Girls, our top priority is working with guides and instructors who embody our values—passionate, experienced, and dedicated to building women’s confidence in the outdoors. While we aim to have female guides wherever possible, the reality is there are fewer women in the industry, so occasionally, we work with male instructors.
We carefully select those who are patient, friendly, and highly skilled, always keeping track of the feedback from our guests. We’re excited to see the number of female instructors grow as more women take to adventure sports!
-
If the weather doesn’t play ball, we’ll adjust the plan accordingly. Safety is always our top priority, and we’ve got plenty of indoor or alternative activities lined up, just in case. You’re in safe hands!
-
You can find the full itinerary on the Gutsy Girls website. Just a heads-up, though, our itineraries aren’t set in stone. Our guides are experts at making the most of the weather each day, so they may adjust things to ensure we get the best out of the conditions. Please be flexible – they work hard to balance adventure with safety, so we can all have a fantastic time!
