FAQs
Slovenia Multi-activity Adventure
-
Flights aren't included in your trip, but we've listed some options that align with the group transfer to make planning easier.
These aren't official recommendations, just helpful examples. You can book any flight that fits the schedule, but transfers run on time and can't be delayed, even if your flight is listed.
Please note that this adventure uses two different airports. For arrival please fly into Pula airport, Croatia, whereas departure flights are from Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Not sure if your flight works? Just ask - we're happy to help. -
You are welcome to get any flight that arrives in time to make the transfer. However, to make planning easier, we've listed some flight suggestions that align with the group transfer. These are not official recommendations though, just helpful examples.
Please note, if your flight is late or cancelled, you'll need to make your own way to the start location, but we'll support you with local transport information on the day.
We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers delays, cancellations, and missed connections.
-
Yes, a group transfer is included on both the arrival and departure days.
There is one transfer each way, and your flight needs to align with the timing. If it doesn't, you'll need to make your own arrangements.
Pula Airport on arrival day
Ljubljana Airport on departure day
Transfer Times
12:40 Pick Up at Pula Airport
9:50 Drop Off at Ljubljana Airport
The group transfer is included in your trip package. There is no discount if you choose not to use it.
-
Missed transfers are rare, but we want to be upfront so you can plan with confidence.
If your flight is delayed or cancelled, you'll need to arrange your own transport to meet the group. We'll support you as best we can, but your host will be your main contact on the day and can help coordinate locally. You can also contact our bookings team, available Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm UK time, though replies may be delayed outside of these hours.
Even if you booked a flight from our suggested flights, group transfers run to schedule and cannot wait for late arrivals.
Make sure your insurance covers travel delays and missed connections, it could save you a significant amount if things don't go to plan.
-
You should buy comprehensive travel insurance as soon as you book your trip, not just before you travel. This ensures you're covered in case you need to cancel before departure, as well as for any unexpected issues while you're away.
Your policy should include cover for:
Travel delays and missed connections
Trip cancellation
Medical emergencies and evacuation
Baggage and equipment loss
All activities included in your itinerary
Travel insurance is a requirement for joining any Gutsy Girls trip, and it's your responsibility to check that your policy includes the kind of adventure you've signed up for, especially outdoor or sporting activities.
-
Yes, private transfers can be arranged at an additional cost. Contact us in advance and we'll help you organise this.
-
If you've got time either side of the trip, both cities are worth exploring.
Pula has Roman history written all over it - the amphitheatre is impressive and the old town has character. Ljubljana is compact, walkable, and has a buzz about it that makes it easy to spend a day or two there. Both are different enough from the mountains and coast you'll see on the trip to make the detour worthwhile.
Travel Information
Accommodation & Food
-
You'll stay in two very different places on this trip.
The hotel in Istria is family-run and relaxed. Rooms are simple and comfortable and the views over the green hills of central Istria are the kind you'll want to wake up to. It's warm, welcoming, and the food is excellent.
The hotel in Kranjska Gora is a solid four-star with mountain views, decent beds, a small wellness centre and everything you need after a day on the trails.
-
Yes!
-
Laundry facilities aren't available at either hotel. You can bring travel wash or soap flakes for handwashing clothes if needed.
-
The food is a highlight. In Istria you'll eat home-cooked Croatian dishes made with local ingredients - hearty, delicious meals that reflect the region. In Slovenia, the hotel serves up a generous breakfast buffet and dinners that showcase Alpine and local flavours.
Lunches vary depending on the day's activity. Some will be packed, others eaten at local cafes and restaurants along the route. Either way, you won't go hungry.
-
We will try to cater to dietary requirements as much as possible. Vegan food is very limited in Slovenia and Croatia, and vegetarians may also have less choice than usual.
For those on a gluten free diet or severe allergies, although the restaurants and hotels will do everything they can, unfortunately they can’t guarantee there will be no cross-contamination. If you’re unsure, please get in touch before you book.
Activites
-
You need a decent level of fitness for this one. We're hiking up to 13km, spending full days in the saddle on eBikes covering 35-50 km, and tackling a summit climb in the Julian Alps. The eBikes take the sting out of the uphill, but you'll still be moving your body every day.
If you can handle long, active days without needing to collapse halfway through, you'll be fine. It's challenging, but not extreme. Just be realistic about where you're at physically.
-
No problem. Both are beginner-friendly and you'll get instruction from experienced guides. You do need to be able to ride a bike though and have experience of riding off road.
-
If you want variety, this trip delivers. You'll hike, cycle, raft, and swim through three countries in five nights. It's active, it's adventurous, and it's not for anyone looking for a gentle week away.
Gear & Packing
-
We provide all the necessary equipment for rafting, including life jackets, helmets, and wetsuits. eBikes and helmets are also included.
-
Yes, you'll find it here.
-
Yes, bring a small daypack (around 20L) for essentials like water, snacks, sunscreen, and extra layers. A lightweight dry bag is also useful for keeping things dry during water-based activities.
-
You'll need sturdy walking boots with ankle support for the hikes, not trainers. If you do bring trainers for hiking for your own safety you will not be able to take part.
You may also want water shoes, sandals or old trainers for swimming and rafting, and then whatever footwear you’d like for downtime and travelling.
Other
-
Weather varies between the countries and across the days. In Istria, expect warm, Mediterranean conditions - potentially hot during the day, cooling off in the evenings. In the Julian Alps, temperatures drop and the mountain weather can be unpredictable, even in summer. Italy will be similar.
Be prepared for sun and rain. Layers are key.

Both Slovenia and Croatia mostly accept card payments, so you don't need to carry large amounts of cash. However, it's worth bringing a small amount of local currency (Euros) for any small vendors, or remote spots where card machines might not be available.
All meals and activities are included, however you may want to budget extra for drinks, snacks or souvenirs.
-
There is no upper age limit for our adventures — we have women up to 70 years old join us. We never ask your age, just that you are up for an adventure!
As a rough guide, most Gutsy Girls guests are 24-60 years old, with around 60% in their 30s-40s. After a day tackling summit hikes, cycling through valleys, and rafting down rivers, everyone's ages become irrelevant as we bond over our experiences.
-
Absolutely. Most people on our trips join our trips solo. We'll connect you with the group via WhatsApp before the trip so you can get to know each other ahead of time.
-
Whenever possible we use female instructors and guides, however we cannot always guarantee this, simply because there are fewer female instructors available.
Our first priority is to work with the most highly experienced and considerate instructors and guides, who are patient, friendly and as passionate as we are about building women's confidence in the outdoors.
-
If the weather affects what we've got planned, we'll adjust. Safety comes first, and the guides are experienced enough to shuffle things around to make the most of the conditions. A hike may be swapped for a different day or the order of activities changed, so a level of flexibility is key. The trip will still deliver, just maybe not in the exact order you expected.
-
The itinerary on the website gives you a clear idea of what to expect, but it's not set in stone. Guides will swap things around to make the most of the weather and conditions on each day.
