Enjoy hiking but feel like your normal routes aren’t cutting it anymore? Then here’s an adventure for you. Based 1,000m above sea level on the doorstep of Jotunheimen National Park, you'll spend five consecutive days hiking through some of the most dramatic mountain terrain in Norway with ridgelines, rocky summits, historic passes, and a live glacier crossing all on the itinerary.
Each day brings something different. You’ll summit two peaks, walk a stretch of the ancient King's Road with views that stretch deep into Jotunheimen, then rope up as a team and cross Uranosbreen Glacier. Back at the hotel, renovated rooms with mountain views and three-course dinners made with locally-sourced ingredients are waiting. And if your legs are tired legs? Then the riverside sauna beside the Begna river will soon ease any aches and pains.
Location
Tyin Filefjell sits at 1,000m above sea level, where Norway's wildest fjords and most dramatic peaks collide, right on the doorstep of Jotunheimen National Park. In summer, this place comes into its own. Trails lead straight from the hotel door across open mountain terrain, along ridgelines, to summit peaks and around thundering waterfalls. From accessible lakeside loops to serious summit days above 2,000m, the hiking here is as varied as it gets and all of it well away from the tourist crowds.
Hiking
Tie up your laces and discover some of Norway’s wildest landscapes. On this trip you’ll hike a different route each day, covering distances from 9-18km across mountain ridges, forest paths, rocky summits and even a glacier. This trip is perfect for anyone with a love of hiking and the outdoors, who wants to upgrade their usual hiking roots to explore the heart of the Jotunheimen National Park. A head for heights, good fitness and a well-worn pair of hiking boots is essential.
Mt. Store Soleiebotntind
Tucked amongst some of the most technically demanding peaks in the region, Mt.Store Soleiebotntind is a hidden gem - it delivers serious views without requiring years of mountaineering skills. At 11km with 900m of elevation gain, the hike is a long day on your feet. Parts of the route are also rocky enough to demand your full attention, but once you reach the top there’s panoramic views across peaks and valleys in every direction. And if you look carefully, you can already spot Mt. Uranostind waiting for you later in the week.
The King’s Road Mountain Pass (Fjellpasset)
The Kongevegen - or King's Road - was once the main route between Oslo and Bergen, and we'll be walking a restored stretch of it right over the mountain pass. Starting from the hotel, the route follows the edge of Lake Otrøvatnet before climbing up through open terrain, with sweeping views towards Jotunheimen on one side and down into Lærdalen on the other. Your guide will bring the history to life along the way, pointing out the landmarks that have stood here for centuries. At 17km with 450m of elevation gain, it's a solid day out but a more forgiving one underfoot.
Mt. Uranostind
At 2,157m, Uranostind is the week's big one - 18km, 1100m elevation gain and a glacier crossing to navigate. The climb starts after crossing Lake Uradalsvatnet, and although most of the route is on marked mountain paths, the push to the summit gets narrow. It’s worth it though for those views.
Glacier Crossing
Uranosbreen Glacier sits deep in Jotunheimen National Park, and crossing it is one of those experiences that stays with you. Before you step onto the ice, your guide will kit you out with everything you need and walk you through exactly what to expect. Then you rope up as a team and go. No prior experience needed.
Sauna
After a long day in the mountains, head to the riverside sauna. Perched beside the Begna river with Mt. Skørsnøse dominating the view, this is where tired legs recover and minds switch off as you feel your muscles unknot.

This trip is rated challenging and would be perfect for hikers who want to upgrade their usual route for the Norwegian Mountains.
You’ll spend four consecutive days of hiking, covering up to 18km and 1,100m of elevation gain in a single day. You'll summit two peaks above 2,000m, navigate rocky and exposed terrain, and cross a live glacier. You need to arrive with a strong base fitness, solid hiking experience and legs that are ready to work hard.
-
Distance: You'll cover between 9km and 18km per day across four consecutive days of hiking. These are proper full days on your feet.
Elevation: Expect between 450m and 1,100m of elevation gain each day. The Filefjell Ridge sits at around 1,450m, and Uranostind takes you to 2,157m
Terrain: Varied and demanding. You'll cross open mountain ridgelines, rocky summits, historic mountain passes, and a live glacier. Some paths are well-marked and straightforward; others are rugged underfoot and require your full concentration. Good ankle support and well-worn-in boots are non-negotiable.
Consecutive Days: Four days of hiking, back to back - this week will test your stamina. The combination of distance and elevation each day means arriving with a solid base fitness isn't optional, it's essential.
Weather: Norway in summer means long days and stunning light, but mountain weather can change fast and without much warning. Layers, a waterproof jacket and warm kit are essential every single day regardless of what the forecast says. Your guide will always make the call on conditions.
