You are welcome to get any flight that arrives in time to make the transfer. However, to make planning easier, we’ve listed some flight times that align with the group transfer. These are not official recommendations though, just helpful examples.

Please note, if your flight is late or cancelled, you’ll need to make your own way to the start location, but we’ll support you with local transport information on the day.

We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers delays, cancellations, and missed connections.

We’ll support you as best we can — your host will be your main contact on the day and can help coordinate locally. You can also contact our bookings team, available Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm UK time, though replies may be delayed outside of these hours.

Even if you booked a flight from our Suggested Flights, group transfers run on schedule and cannot wait for late arrivals.

In some locations, arranging a private transfer is straightforward — but in more remote areas, it can be limited and expensive. That’s why comprehensive travel insurance is essential, not only for delays and cancellations, but also in case you need to cancel your trip before departure.

Make sure your insurance covers travel delays and missed connections — it could save you a significant amount if things don’t go to plan.

  • You should buy comprehensive travel insurance as soon as you book your trip — not just before you travel. This ensures you’re covered in case you need to cancel before departure, as well as for any unexpected issues while you’re away.

Your policy should include cover for:

    • Travel delays and missed connections

    • Trip cancellation

    • Medical emergencies and evacuation

    • Baggage and equipment loss

    • All activities included in your itinerary

Travel insurance is a requirement for joining any Gutsy Girls trip, and it’s your responsibility to check that your policy includes the kind of adventure you've signed up for — especially outdoor or sporting activities.

Booking your insurance early gives you peace of mind and protects your trip from the very start.

  • We will connect you with others on the trip via WhatsApp, so you may be able to arrange to travel together.

Activities

  • The hikes are designed for active adventurers who enjoy full-day walks in the mountains. Daily distances range from 10 to 18 km, with ascents between 345m and 750m. Some hikes have options to extend or shorten the route depending on the group’s preferences.

  • Each day brings a different hiking adventure, with routes carefully selected to suit the group’s ability and the ever-changing mountain conditions. Our experienced guides ensure a flexible itinerary and take us on a variety of breathtaking trails, including:

    • Ibon de Piedrafita – A peaceful mountain lake nestled beneath sheer cliffs, with an optional detour to a dramatic rock arch. (10–12 km, 345–500m ascent)

    • Punta del Pacino (1965m) – A circular trail with incredible 360° views across the Pyrenees. (14 km, 750m ascent, with options to extend or shorten)

    • Balneario de Panticosa – A high-altitude trail past alpine lakes, leading to the Bachimaña mountain refuge. (14 km, 700m ascent)

    • Ordesa Canyon Rim – A spectacular hike along the rim of Ordesa Canyon, offering panoramic views of Monte Perdido and the surrounding peaks. A 4x4 ride ensures we start high, making the most of the landscape. (18 km, 460m ascent, with a shorter option available)

  • Not at all. The hikes are varied, and we totally get that they aren’t for everyone. That’s why this trip has two experienced guides to help you gauge your comfort level. Listen to your body and choose what suits you best.

  • A reasonable level of fitness is required, but you don’t need to be an expert hiker—our guides tailor the pace to the group and ensure everyone is comfortable.

Duration: Each day involves hiking in a different terrain, so you can look forward to four full days of hikes.

Distance: Hikes range from 10–18 km, with ascents between 345m–750m.

Elevation: There are some very high altitude climbs, so be ready for steady ascents and descents.

Terrain: Trails cover everything from woodland paths to high-altitude ridges.

Heights: Some routes include steep sections and rocky terrain.

Consecutive Days of Activity: It’s four days of back-to-back hiking, each with different terrain and routes.

    Weather Considerations:
Summers in the Pyrenees are warm but not scorching, and the weather can be unpredictable. Light layers are best, and we’ll always adapt the itinerary if needed.

If you’re comfortable with hill walking, have a solid fitness base, and enjoy a challenge, you’ll be in your element. Just be honest with yourself—these hikes are remote, rugged, and demanding, but they’re worth every step.

  • Some trails involve high-altitude sections with exposed views. You’ll need to feel confident with heights.

Packing & Clothing

  • Yes! You can find it here.

  • Yes, a 25-litre daypack is ideal for carrying layers, snacks, water, and essentials.

  • Pyrenees summers can be warm but not hot, so light layers may be best. Check the forecast before you go and adjust accordingly. Should weather not permit, there is an option to choose a different hike on this date.

Other

  • No, cards are accepted everywhere we go, so there’s no need to worry about currency exchange.

  • Never! Our trips welcome adventurous women of all ages, from 18 to 70+. Most guests are in their 30s and 40s, but it’s your mindset—not your birth year—that matters.

  • Of course! Most of our guests come alone. You’ll arrive as a solo traveller but leave with a group of like-minded, adventure-loving friends.

  • We work with the best guides available—male or female. While we champion women in the industry, there are fewer female mountain guides, so we prioritise expertise and guest experience above all else. We hope that by encouraging more women into outdoor adventures, we’ll see the number of female guides grow in the future.
