Torn between hitting the trails, gliding through snow, or just switching off in a stunning arctic hotel? You don’t have to pick. This women-only winter adventure in Swedish Lapland brings together all the best bits of a snowy adventure—dog sledding, snowshoeing, backcountry skiing, snowmobiling, and spa nights under the stars. You’ll spend five nights in a cosy eco-hotel tucked into the forest, where each day starts with crisp winter air and ends with three-course organic dinners sourced straight from the land.

The trip builds to a real Arctic adventure: an overnight dog sledding expedition where you take the reins. After getting to know your team of eager huskies, you’ll learn how to drive your own sled and set off into the snowy wilds. It’s just you, the dogs, and the wide open landscape as you carve your way through frozen forests and across silent trails. By nightfall, you'll reach a remote wilderness cabin—no electricity, just the soft glow of candlelight and the crunch of snow underfoot. No experience needed—just a steady pair of hands, warm layers, and a taste for something a little out of the ordinary.

Location

The Swedish Lapland stretches across the northernmost parts of Sweden, blanketed in thick snow and home to the indigenous Sami people. The Sami have called this wild land home for thousands of years, and are renowned for their culture, vibrant art scene and reindeer herding.

The hotel is based in a small village in the northern wilderness, on the edge of the Vindel river. Sustainable, eco-tourism is the centre of everything they do, offering guests the opportunity to get out and experience nature in a way that doesn’t leave a big environmental footprint.

Activities

Dog Sledding Overnight Expedition

Really root yourself in nature and get-off-grid with an overnight dog sledding adventure.

For centuries, people in the Arctic have relied on dog sleds as their main form of transportation. During this trip you’ll not only have the opportunity to drive your own team of dogs and learn more about these incredible animals, but in the evening you’ll really embrace the wilderness around you with a night in a rustic cabin.

The Alaskan huskies that pull the sleds are the elite marathon runners of the dog world, so you’re in good hands (paws) as you speed across the snow!

Backcountry skiing

Backcountry skiing is exactly what it sounds like, exploring untouched, unmarked terrain, whilst on skis. With a nature guide leading the way, you’ll learn to ski through frozen forests and snowy plains, cutting your own tracks as you go.

With touring skis on, you’ll soon master the glide and be ready to see what lies beyond the hotel grounds . ‘Skins’ can also be added to the bottom of your skis to add extra traction on those uphill climbs, making the trip easier on your body.

Snowshoeing

Snowshoeing is as easy as walking, because essentially, it is. The only difference is that you’ll have snowshoes on, to spread your weight and make sure you don’t sink in the deep snow as you head into the wilderness.

Snowshoeing has been around for over 6000 years and is the perfect entry into winter activities. The boost from the snowshoes means you can easily hike on more difficult snowy terrains. You’ll get the opportunity to try this out for yourself with a day hike from the eco-hotel, as well as a possible night time hike once you reach the wilderness cabin.

Snowmobile tour

Developed in the early 20th century, the snowmobile helped keep communities connected during the winter thanks to its speed and the distances it can cover. Now it’s not only a vital mode of transport for otherwise isolated communities, it’s also really fun too.

Whizz through snowy landscapes, covering ground as you venture into the wilds of Lapland. Anyone with a driving licence can have a go, but as each snowmobile seats two, those who haven’t passed their test also get to join in the ride!

Sauna, hot tub and ice bath

It might seem a little strange to think of taking a cold bath in the freezing temperatures of the arctic, but after a full day out on the snow, this is exactly what you’ll need to soothe sore muscles and relax.

The heat from the sauna and the hot tub instantly melt away any tension, whilst the ice bath gives a jolt of adrenaline. It’s the perfect balance between deep relaxation and an energising boost, leaving you refreshed and ready to go for the next day.
